  1. When this comes out, the Navy's going to need more aircraft carriers! The original "Top Gun" had a huge impact on naval aviation and the Navy in general, and I expect this will cause interest to explode. Cinematography has made an Oscar-sized leap in this film, and the actors have experienced ACM (Air Combat Maneuvering) AKA dogfighting with the best the Navy has--while sometimes pulling 7-8 Gs! All the trailers and some wonderful stuff from behind the scenes. Dying to see this! Regards, John Kettler

  2. I usually avoid to bring tanks into contact with AT guns at all but currently playing a campaign that might make it inevitable to do so for my Tigers. While a quick 76mm ZIS-3 test produced the outcome that I´ve seen from various historical accounts (penetration frontal almost impossible, side penetration on short distances possible) the ZIS-2 57mm effectiveness gives me some thoughts. In a recent test it was able to easily penetrate Tigers frontally at 500m and destroy them with 1-4 hits while most hits causes damage ranging from armor spalling (most times 1st hit) over partial pene

  3. You can actually use runners in this game. Detach a team possessing some C2 information you want to pass along, and move it into close proximity to a unit you want to have it, or a unit equipped with a radio. The information will then be shared. @MOS:96B2P Made a thread about C2 and information sharing some time ago.

  5. In the CM-games, at least in Final Blitzkrieg which I have, the crew in a Sturmgeschütz has only one MP40 submachine gun, for the commander, if the vehicle is a Stug III of the late type while the crew in all other Stug III types doesn't have a submachine gun. The crew in all the different types of a Sturmhaubitze 42 has a submachine gun. Although I trust that Battlefront have made this decision based on what they believe is correct information the video Sturmgeschütz School - Choose the Stug Life shows that there were more than one MP40 for a Stug III crew. According to a Sturmgeschütz l

    Yemeni Battle Videos

In my day job I cover Yemen once a week ... Southfront is mostly sourced from pro-Houthi media such as the example below: https://english.almasirah.net/details.php?es_id=11132&cat_id=1 The title gives a slight clue as to how objective the reporting is. This site doesn't cover things day by day but if you want an objective view about things then look here: https://sanaacenter.org/ Go here for a one-stop shop for research links that are more objective: https://sanaacenter.org/publications/main-publications/8569 If you can wait until April (when I'm bac

    Never Seen This Before

Who’s to say one grenade didn’t go down a hatch? Then all it takes is one man, not a fire team. Given it’s fairly difficult it is to close Assault a tank in general, I don’t see a problem.

  8. This is not meant to be taken literally but rather it represents "Infantry Close Assault". Disregard the animations in this as the game was not designed to display the precise actions that take place in this sort of attack on a vehicle.

    Bug and stuff thread

This is SS-Sturmbrigade "Reichsführer-SS" on Corsica in the Sept-Oct 43 time frame. SS becomes available again with the newly raised 16. SS Panzergrenadier Division "Reichsführer-SS" sending a kampfgruppe to Anzio. The full division and all it's elements does not become available until June 1944, IIRC. "Infantry-only" is supposed to restrict purchase to foot formations. It is not "branch" or parent formation based like the editor. Yes, as noted above. Not sure how it would be reversed. Is this across all formations or just in this specific panzergrenadier battalion

  10. Was trying to find some information on the attack frontage for a GPW Rifle Regiment and got served this by the search engine. It is a most interesting discussion on the above topic which was on The Dupuy Institute Forum. Not only was it great read, but one of our own, Andreas, was smack in the middle of the discussion. One of his observations was a stunner, especially from a CM perspective. In the named operation in the text, the breakthrough frontage for the entire 37th Army (3rd Ukrainian Front) was a mere 3.5 kilometers wide, well within CM map dimensions! His remarks in Bold. 11. Been looking into this and considering whether a change might be needed. The problem is I find a bunch of different reduction schemes, one of which is described in Zaloga & Ness's Red Army Handbook as reducing to 3x larger squads to trim some manpower (along with other changes). That is what was put in, at least generally, for the 44 reduced org. It could perhaps be considered a first stage of reduction, although the full strength 43 platoon is a bit over strength in the first place. However, I have recently found some material on a scheme that reduced the platoon to 4x 7-man squads ea

  13. ERwin, You're welcome. He and his outfit were heavily involved in "Fury". Millions were spent transporting many AFVs from his collection to another part of England. Restored Me-109 G6, flying under power of the DB 605A engine. Regards, John Kettler

  15. If Market Garden had worked, though, Monty would have been regarded as brilliant. As it was, it was a close run thing. Consider the unfortunate coincidence of the 9th and 10th SS refitting in the area, or if the 1st Airborne had conducted a coup de main directly on the bridge with an LZ on the south side on the first lift. What amazes me about MG, and in fact the entire war, was how quickly the Allies were able to mount operations? Planning and logistics masters, AFAIC...all without computers, mind you.

  18. Here is a series of mod that changes the vegetation as the months of June, July and August- September This mod was made by looking at the evolution of nature during these 3 months. Part, are stock textures that I reworked in color and saturation I also modified the Ramblers mod for trees by modifying the colors and mixing it with the ones in stock to break the repetition effect. You will also find the plowed fields of Kieme and Aris modified so that the colors correspond to the Norman soil which is brown. Finally herbs come from a super mod without an owner's name and which
