  1. Aragorn2002, I need to apologize. Reacted before I saw who wrote the comment (your comment) about Goumier and rape. Thought it was an ignorant rightwing "the Germans in ww2 hardly did anthing wrong, look how bad the Allies were" view. I should have looked before I reacted, because I know that you are a well informed and decent chap.

  2. PBEM continued. Images of the village before the operation. The village after the operation.

  3. Yet another PBEM concluded. I played as the US Army. My opponent decided to experiment with his armor, hence the lopsided results. My reaction was simple: Nyet, comrade. This is how you use armor. Technically, I lost one and a half tank, cause one of my M 10 was penetrated by a Panther. These are the results. Here are some more images. This Panther was bogged down by harsh terrain, the crew was bailed out by an M 10 shot to the commanders cupola. Subsequently, it was engaged several more times, all ricochets, until one bounced from the turret armor right into the

No problem, though Wart may like the Alice in Wonderland ride with the Queen of Hearts yelling "off with their heads" !

  5. This thread reminded me of one morning in about 1967, in Irvine California. I heard the sound of distant aircraft. As the volume increased, it got loud enough---really loud--- to draw me outside to see what was what. Several waves of Japanese Zeros were passing almost directly overhead. Surprise! My memory wants to say there were hundreds, but I bet it was a lot fewer than that. I later learned they were T-6 Texans painted to look like Zeros. They were eventually shipped to Hawaii for the movie Tora! Tora! Tora!

  7. Cute. But why are the Germans shown smoking filter cigarettes? As I recall, those weren't introduced for another decade. Michael

Almost every point in that article was either false, or completely missed the point. I took a look in the comments, and realized that they were aiming at the "Stab in the Back 2.0" crowd. They love to blame everything but the Wehrmacht for the loss in WW2. Agreed.

Given that this is meant to be a WW2 thread. Lets pay tribute to the women.

"Sociology" is a subject matter, not a method. Some sociologists use scientific methods, some do not. A common reason that the "hard" sciences seem to be more scientific is that the problems studied are often easier, measurement more accurate and precise, and the subject doesn't change so rapidly over time.

  12. I do agree that tanks are overpowered, but everything else is overpowered too IMO. I don't think this is an issue with tanks alone. Foxholes don't provide that much cover from even small arms fire. There is not enough fog of war in the game. For one thing, they never managed to replicate what they did in the CMx1 engine, where the game would deliberately mislead you about where enemy units are. If an enemy unit was firing at you at long range, a little 3D soldier model named "sound contact" would appear somewhere, but it might appear dozens of meters away from where the actual unit really is.

  14. I tweaked the Taliban combatants a bit, changed the trousers of the one with the camo jacket, added a new one with a pale blue outfit and then another with black clothes in order to have a slighter darker overall tone when in groups. That's nine in total now, but of course most are just recoloured with only slight variations, but I am more satisfied with the ragtag effect. https://www.dropbox.com/s/62ph1spr4ohsggd/zTalibans.rar?dl=0 Strigoi & co, I haven't forgotten you, stay tuned for the fighters.

  15. I'm glad there is no mention of those sorts in the article, for I would have stopped reading them. I'm not going to debate these subjects, I think it is suffice to say that both ('floodgate muslim immigration from Turkey' and the 'EU Sharia') are populist myths. Also, I miss how those are correlated? Turkey doesn't feature a Sharia law; besides there is no such thing as 'the Sharia law'. In The Netherlands (and I suspect the UK also) there already is the possibility for mediation, instead of formal courts, when parties want to settle a civil dispute. If they do wish the mediation to
