    Hey y'all! I'm not dead! I've finally upgraded my CM:BN game all the way. Work on the final (huge) update to "TweakedUI v4 (final)" -to bring it up to "Red Thunder UI" standards- is already well under way. I'm gonna need a couple of bug testers to iron out any problems. Anyone game? PM me! Juju

  8. Based on my experience in this game so far, I found that the AI (regardless of factions) likes to push to the same way, same road, or same positions inside a scenario. Once I firstly take the "sweet spot" of the map (some important buildings, important crossroad, or important openings in the woods, treelines) faster than AI, the AI get ambushed and took heavy casualties by my troops. After then, usually real world counterparts (and humans) choose different positions to attack, circumvent to hit the flank, or try to become far more sneaky with the plan B.   11. And know what it does with some level of credibility. I'm sure whatever armor it has according to the Russians can defeat smaller nuclear explosions and resist Captain America's sheild but combat mission thus far has well modeled what we know about vehicles vs propoganda claims.

  12. I'm in the same boat. I'll pay for any upgrades available. That isn't blind faith - it comes from getting years of fun out of quality products. I've never been let down by BF (I've blanked the first year of CMSF out of my mind ). I'd love to not only Kickstart AI improvements but Kickstart whole new series within CM such as France and Barbarossa.

  15. Actually, there is no AI per se above TacAI level. Everything written in AI plan is linear actions sequence and have zero adaptability. Real AI woud be generatin it's own AI plans during the game as situation changes.\ It would be difficult to deliver good AI for this game though.

  18. FWIW, The cat retired to the Caribbean, and now helps imported Detective Inspectors solve murders (Death in Paradise). As to being as good, l always found the entire Red Dwarf series to be so bad, it was good*. The series was/is not for everyone. Much like the movie Strange Brew ("Take Off, Eh!"). Or Father Ted (DRINK! FECK! ARSE! GIRLS!). * although the scenes following the one when Kryton detached his hand to summon help, was outright hilarious on any level.

For what it's worth I had a debilitating heart attack in 2002 result in chronic heart failure that has left me disabled. I'm an example of what John Kettler mentioned, someone who during the week is primarily involved with others through internet communities like this one. With my limited energies it takes me one to two weeks just to play out a single player scenario depending on how long I'm able to keep going on my sessions of play. As the thread went, you initially posted your idea - Thewood1 agreed it might be interesting, but that it had been suggested before and gained no traction. - agusto suggested a way to try it, but didn't think it would be interesting. - Womble didn't think it would be interesting, maybe only good for a laugh. - John thought it might be useful for testing. - Apocal responded to John on that point. - MikeyD pointed out that there had been something akin to this in CMSF and that it had gained little support and had fallen from the game engine.

  25. I think Obama has a policy, and it is illustrated by the Russian-Georgian war (which was before Obama was elected, just to avoid confusion). Whether the US would have been prepared to fight to help Georgia or not was a moot point (although I'm pretty sure the US wouldn't have) - the facts at the time was that the US had too many military commitments ongoing to have the forces available to do anything to counter Russia at that point.   27. This has already been debated on several occasions. The proponents of SOF in CMBS (myself included) are not expecting to see some SWAT-like ninjas who free hostages and clear buildings "Kill-house style". We are proposing higher trained and better concealed sniper, recon, and assault teams whose standards of training and morale go beyond what is simulated (for regular infantry units) in CM; and who use suppressed and silenced weapons making them so much more difficult to spot and to track down. I personally feel that those types of units can fit into CMBS quite organically...

  29. Sure would like to see a youtube of someone winning this. Rage quit 4 times in about 40 minutes. The first two games, I lost my jeep mg gunner in the first 2 turns, despite being in heavy cover. Also, I think this scenario needs a map with the general area of the outpost mapped. First time, I didn't understand that the outpost was right there and the "rush vehicles forwards" advice seems to end up with a jeep that is quickly routing in panic. Unit position ended up with either my units in too much cover, with no sight of the enemy, or not enough, and getting picked off. Snipers were s

  30. I'm 32 and I feel like the youngest one here where in regular gaming circles I am an old man. You can do all your "old man wisdom" crap, but honestly, this is about gaming and trying to educate people on new features that people actually like, because honestly you'd still be playing with 8bit hexes. This is too stressful, I have Mulitple Sclerosis and stress makes my symptoms worse so just **** it. This isn't worth my time. I just posted an idea and all I got was hostile obnoxious responses.

  31. It was funny when AI was brought up before, and peoples arguments against me that "artificial intelligence" does not exist - haha. I get the feeling that people dont play much outside of combat mission on here, it seems to be the gamers with the broadest breadth of experience with other games that are arguing for change.

  33. jomni, Which M60 version, please? Makes a big difference in both general capabilities and in terms of comparison with the T-64. M60A3TTS, for example, had stabilized gun, LRF, ballistic computer and thermal sights. Regards, John Kettler
