Is it possible to launch Operation Sealion after the commencement of Barbarossa, especially if the campaign is going well? I always seem to leave it too late after the fall of France. Consequently I tend to end up invading Britain in 1941 leaving the initiative on the Eastern front to the rapidly activating Red Army.

Hi Ziploc!

If you find that you can hold off the Red Army at the same time I would say go for it, but you might find the additional build up time in England a bit more of a challenge.

Thanks for the reply Hubert. Having just purchased the game (a bit behind the times but what the hell!), I've played a couple of scenarios and Sealion can be unpredictable at the best of times.

Anyway, thanks for an enjoyable game that manages to be more than the sum of its' parts. Even those few design choice quibbles, which I've seen noted in several reviews and tend to agree with (dare I mention hexes or certain naval aspects), detract little from an engaging title. The campaign design is simple yet intricate which provides high replayability.

Look into Operation Pluto which was the allied trick of sending fuel across the channel via hoses under the channel. Germans could've done it & this solves your biggest problem, fuel once you get to the other side. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Pluto

As to Dover, the Germans planned to send a lot of 6 inch guns on the British shore to shoot back at the RN, plus 2 WW 1 ships that were redesigned between the wars & had coal bunkers replaced with oil ones and 11 inch guns added http://www.combinedfleet.com/fura****a/schlie_f.htm These would be sacrificed at Dover.

P.S.      1 foot of concrete was added to many of the barges making British 30 cals ineffective at sinking these. Go at night when RAF can't see you for a large part of the journey.
