Think I've seen it before, but I'll ask again..

I think in the CMSF series there was damage modeling to vehicles. i.e. an "Upper Left Hull: Penetration" would actually put a little hole, upper left hull. Tracks would be graphically blown off, etc. Is there any way to include this in CMBN? I think it would really add to the depth of this admittedly already deep game.

Of all the things that were also in CMSF, visible damage is also NOT in CMBN. The "Theater of War" series of games have it. But not CMSF or CMBN. There is a tab on the GUI showing which component of a vehicle is damaged or destroyed. But there are no graphic representations showing damage on the actual vehicles.

None. Nada. Zilch.

I think i've seen just ERA blocks disappear, no tracks or holes...

That's about the limit of it.

However I do believe there are some models that have damage skirts and such built in as part of the model. But not as a result of damage that occurs during the game.

No visible damage in any game...In CMSF it didn't tell you any info by text..this is new for CMBN so it's better...but we do need some decals...even basic ones to start with...

This is why I made a thread a couple of days ago requesting the decals graphic feature on the to do list gets done ASAP...not only will we see damage but we will be able to pick formation markings and unit patches etc etc...

Showing the damaged part visually for textures is a lot of extra graphic work that was better spend on other areas of the game. I'm sure BFC will look at this issue for the near future and come up with a diabolical plan to implement some degree of visual deforming damage on vehicles without killing resident Wallaby artist Dan with work overload. :)

Only requires some basic decals at the moment...that would suffice to start with...Steve has mentioned it would be basic then slowly build up...not after bit's flying off or big holes in tanks...just decals...we would also be able to customise vehicle insignia and unti formation emblems aswell as uniform patches etc etc...

I want this more than anything at the moment..I'm very happy with the rest of the game...decals and start work on the next module...

Seriously, that would only require 4-5 small textures which really isn't a lot of work. A skilled artist could easily create them in a day's work, with a couple of hours prior.

The rest is coding, which is probably the reason why it's not in.
