Not quiet what youre looking for but nevertheless a good read and its free.

A good book about military history of the conflict between Russia and Georgia.

Holy smokes, they translated that book into English?! I've red it in Russian and it was a great read!

So yea, by all means anyone who is remotely interested in the state of modern Russian military should read it. At least the section about detailed war chronology. It was only a 5-day war so it is very detailed.

Thanks! Those will keep me busy for a while :D

I found this short clip rather mesmerizing:

I love this little video, just a crew of guys in a foreign country fighting a war they may not understand but for some reason the comradery comes through. Love the Bruce Lee pics in the APC and for some reason it reminds me of Apocalyspe Now even if the're just driving through the countryside, maybe it's because the guy with the moustache reminds me of the chef.

Anyone know a good book on the subject? It's a subject i've just not gotten around to reading about yet, but interests me greatly!

I've heard 'The bear that went over the mountain' is good, any comments on this?

First I'd like the soviet perspective, as paradoxically the Mujahadeen view is the most commonly understood in this conflict, I believe anyway. Likely because it's simple - a defensive war.

Also i found this:

Its in russian but stil quite interesting (for us non Russian speakers out there :D)

A movie about a battle during the 2nd Chechen war, shown mainly from the Russian side. It is a made for TV movie that was filmed in Russia. The dialogue is in German, but closed captioning is available in English and other languages. If you have the patience to watch it there is a lot of good action throughout the movie.

Don't know if this has been mentioned before

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sWOf-QqtWCU&feature=results_main&playnext=1&list=PL9DC5A72D8395F917

It's a 1991 Russian/Italian co-production "Aфганский Излом" - Afghan Breakdown. No English subtitles unfortunately but some impressive action scenes.

After watching a few minutes of the action scenes I think I'm going to watch the entire movie even though I won't be able to understand what is being said. Excellent find.
