Battleground: Britain:

Gort will rue his decision to stay on the home island. It will fall, even it's the last thing I do! On the flip side, it might be the last thing I do.

Leeb decides to secure the western flank and put the B.E.F. to work cleaning up the debris from all the shells we had to fire into the city. We decide BEF must mean British Expendable Force, and that does have a more catchy ring than Prisoner of War. I corps does hold Manchester.....barely. We move the Italian fighter north to scout, and sees the location of 7th Armor. We strafe their positions and get a hit. They retreated as a 2 (maybe 3), so they just barely hold on. Going to be pricey to fix that one up. British fighters run out of room on the island, so they rebase all the way to Ethiopia.

{China}

This is one of those turns where I want to bang my head on a brick wall. Everyone who plays any wargame will know what I mean. Every attack produced greater than expected losses for Japan, and less for China. Yes, even the 4 losses from the Expedition Army was below expected. I am hoping next turn or two to have a reversal on that.

[World wide]

As if the Italians don't have enough to be scared of, Ghurkas will now be in the war. India DOWs Germany and her allies. Britain is very appreciative for the manpower and especially the money. Intelligence indicates both USSR and USA have spent a lot on Research and Development, which means they are getting tech hits, and production is good. Both may not be true, but it looks that way to Axis intel.

Franco resists all efforts to join the war. We have naked women serving him waffles and cigars, but he will not budge. I get a feeling he will join us right at the worst possible time.

The British are pooring resources into both Manchester and Edinburgh to keep the I Corps (London) and 7th armour (Edinburgh) afloat. The 1st and 3rd home guard corps have the narrow passage to Edinburgh blocked off. Hort deserves a medal for holding the German's to the south of the Island for over a year.

In East Africa, British air bombs supply in Addis Ababa, and a few corps and former air defenders of the Britain try to reduce the Blackshirts to rubble. Well we fail miserably so far garnering a single hit (they are 4 stars!) while taking a couple hits back to ourselves. They can say goodbye to their supply so eventually i'll knock em' out and free up some troops.

In China with a little luck last turn Chenchow reamins Chinese territroy. It's only a matter of time though. The 8th route army again is the only Chinese unit with the balls to attack, a 3-1 trade off near Chenchow.

USSR 59% USA 33%.

End of turn: Turkey strengthens Pro-Axis relations.

Beginning of turn: Turkey likes Germany even more.

July, 1941

No Fire in the East.

Manchester falls, Churchill and Royals flee to Canada. Germany is even, yes, going to throw in the kitchen sink to finish this up. U-30 happens across the BB, Duke of York (strength 5), sends her to the bottom. We do not wait around to pick up survivors.

Franco still denies me.

All the Royal Air Force has fled to Africa. It is only a matter of time for the Blackshirts.

{China}

Just remember in China, Infantry Weapon 1 = Smooth Bore Rifles, and they are getting a lot of them. Which means, what are they going to do with all those Inf Weapon 0 rakes? Nothing else to report.

British forces have been pushed to Northern Britain by relentless Axis attacks. Only Edinburgh remains under their control. Hort remains in Command, and will make his stand or die trying.

German Fightrs spotted along the German/Russian border. How much longer will they flex their muscles? Turkey 67% Spain 77%. Germany could gain some big allies in the coming months.

The Italian blackshirts (man they get alot of media coverage) are slowly being subdued. With supply smashed back to 0 corps and air power are slowly winding them down. We score a few more hits to knock them down to 5.

In China nothing, we hand out rations. However there is an Oil Embargo against Japan.

Germans have opened up the narrow choke point to Edinburgh, multi Tac Air is slamming the 7th armour within the city. There are serious doubts from the new UK headquarters in Canada that Hort will be able to hold Axis forces for much longer. German Bombers are spotted scouting along the Russia border. Russian troops are mounting also, staring them right in the face near Riga and Odessa.

Blackshirts are continuing to be stubborn as hell, we muster nothing but not taking much in the way of losses this round. I should mention that the East Italian destroyer was finally spotted. They were shore bombarding Edinburgh.

Little to report in China. The Japanese are preparing for another wave of attacks.

I can just repeat my last post, except Gort is alone on the island. Edinburg is empty, didn't have enough oomph to get into the city this turn. No war in the east, I do have reasons, and not necessarily I fear a two front war (hint: I dread taking Pz I-B into Russia, but that has changed). Playing a dangerous game here, but adjusted accordingly, and won't make this very easy for my esteemed opponent.

Chenchow was a close thing this turn, one or two extra hits would have cleared the city, but my Army is still under-performing. We pretty much relegate ourselves to flattening the Chinese economy with my bombers. Oil embargo, eh, would be nice to have the oil, but not hurting too much.

The Battle for Britain is over. Axis forces are set to occupy Edinburgh, the last free city. Hort (strength 10) escapes to Belfast, in Northern Island. This will tie up Axis air forces longer, or allow the Allies a naval base in Europe. Eastward, the delayed invasion of Russia has given the Ruskies enough time to train, and refit their troops with top of the line weapons. Along the border the German spies watched as millions of new infantry weapons (lv.2) were swapped into active duty. The USSR is edging closer to war on their own accord (76%) even if we have to march in the snow.

In China the 100 Communits regiment moves into an offensive position in the mountains southwest of Chenchow to assist the 8th route army in the pounding of Japanes forces who are trying to surround the city. The pair get 4-0 and 1-2 decisions. The Flying Tigers return near Chungking, with escorts and pop a Jap army with limited supply assaulting Nanning.

The USA has began lending to the UK.

Gort makes himself target practice for the Kriegsmarine. Dublin getting plowed for potato planting in the near future. Troops on the Russian border gear up for the inevitable, lucky tech gives me Tank 2 over the last two turns. Blackshirts invent heat seeking rocks, hiding in the rubble, and refusing to go away.

Chengchow, uhg, I do it backwards, pull my troops away from the south across the river, then look to my troops to the east and do the what the heck attacks. 3 armies attack take 2 hits inflict 4. Huge, huge mistake by me. If I did that 1st, then attacked from the south, Chengchow would be in my hands. Nothing else to report. Just denying myself way too much money on the continent by not pushing the Chinese around.

Europe is a waiting game. Russia is nearly mobilized completely, they are at 83%. They are showing tank lv.2 indeed on the border. Tac Air is visible, and the Romanian's even got their upgrades. My guess is this turn or the next. In Belfast Hort is in it for the long haul.

It's raining in Ethiopia, the blackshirts are going to live forever it seems.

Nothing to report from Asia on my end.

{Europe}

Blackout in effect, the only one seeing action is Gort, shelling continues. Blackshirts get some locals to volunteer to fill in their ranks. Your side is right if you control the food.

{China}

Chengchow falls in the rain. Troops around Nanning are quiet. Everything else is quiet.

China lost their front city, but there is a wall of Chinese in the mountains. The Japanese still have a very long way to go.

In Europe the Russians make their final preperations before war with Germany and her allies. We get reports that Franco has sent the Blue unit to support the Axis in their invasion. That's where Stalin drew the line. At turn's end Russia joins the Allies! The real war for Europe is about to begin...

Germans have to still DOW USSR, and move up into Russian territory. Mud and rain, very quiet turn. If Gort had morale, his would be going lower as his staff is shelled and strafed to death. Luckily there is a nearby port to bring in more vict....err, reinforcements. Blackshirts numbers are dwindling, those Mosquitoes are getting quite good at pinpoint bombing.

[China]

Bombers flatten fortifications 8th Route Army is hiding in, Expedition Army hits 'em for 2 damage. Nothing else to report.

War in Russia has proven to be anything but epic. Not a single Russian shot is fired through the blistering snow. A corps near Odessa was the only Russian unit attacked last turn. Germany is using the harsh winter for some freebie movement into Russia. A wall of Russian troops are using the Niemen river from Riga to Minsk as their main defenisve line in the North.

Newspaper's in Canada have gotten word that Hort is dead. Under constant bombardment from surface ships Hort tried a daring move to escape into the ocean but the axis submarines are everywhere. His last known whereabouts was south of Dublin Ireland. UK convoys are raided to the point where we earn only 3 MPP on our convoys. We need to act on this.

But there's good news, those pesky Blackshirts are dead. After nearly holding out again our last attacker, a mid strength corps popped the 4 star bastards for the final 2 hits. Finally!

Multiple Japanese transports are being spotted parking near strategic islands in the Pacific. The war in China is quiet once again.

Panzers in the Snow, 1941

{Europe}

Snow flurries abound, we ping two Russian corps, not much damage in this weather. We keep pouring money into the overhaul of out army, they will be ready for spring. OKH has issued concerns about the British troops who are now free from Ethiopia. Ghestapo asked to ascertain overall strategic assessment and planning of the British Empire, a rather tall order! Franco comes closer to joining the Axis, by 8%. 5% more and the magic 90% threshold will be achieved.

{Pacific}

Yes, landing craft are spotted moving around the ocean, but it's just maneuvers, it's not like we want war to break out, do we? Expedition Army pops 8th Route for 3 this turn. Quiet everywhere else.

Oops, was going to do pics, will do next turn.

Axis forces continue to push through the snow into Russia. Germany's 4th Pz. Tank group and 2nd army reach the outskirts of Kiev. The Ruskies reply be sending a pair of tank groups (revealing lv.3 tech) to smash the 2nd army. We wanted the kill, but will settle for 7-1 decision. German forces can't make a dent in the North, not yet with all the snow.

Yes I freed up alot troops in Ehtiopia, but I had troops freed up already as the Syrian people just found out. The UK needs to expand after losing so much territory. We DOW Syria, (upsetting the Iraqi's). Long Range desert group and a pair of British armies move in and occupy the country. Interesting to note, all convoy raiding ceased. Hmm..

Nothing going on in China. I have alot of troops, I don't think there is any chance of China losing this war.

Poor 2nd Army is reinforced and left to her fate on the outskirts of Kiev. Other forces pull back in a defensive position. An army is an expensive probe to find out tank tech level, but no one was in position to hit that spot near Kiev. Otherwise quiet in Europe.

Yes, China will have a hard time falling, especially on the eve of USA entry. Going to have to get tricky here.

German 2nd Army near Kiev destoryed by pair of Red Tanks, both retreat back across the river. The Russians deploy some more infantry around Odessa to prevent incirclement on our side of the river. There is absolutely no German advancement in the North through the snow, they remain on their side of the border. An Army from Riga pops an upgraded corps for a point.

The Japanese are either reorganizing their front lines or pulling some troops out of China, it's too early to tell. The Pacific is turning into a parking lot for Amphimbious Transports.

The UK needs to decide their next move. I have never played from this side of the Atlantic before. And the convoy raiders are back..

I think all three UFC matches will end with allied victory. #1 and #3 are not quite foregone but heading that way. #2 could possibly still go Rambo's way but he'll have to have a real turn around.

Well I'm hoping your right about UFC #3!

I've been following all 3 games closely, it's nice to see a large variety in the games rather than all 3 games following the exact same path.

Oh yeah, I am pretty darn sure you will win this, even if you move pieces only every other turn until 1944.

Europe: Here's what it looks like, giving away some intel here, but they will be moving soon:

Germany42.jpg

All quiet for now, subs are the highlight of my life, but with the island gone, they have to go far to find convoys.

{Pacific}

How to define all dressed up and no where to go:

Japan421.jpg

I had to go this turn, couldn't wait one more. Lots of carrier sitting there, and monsoons are everywhere.

{Hawaiian islands}

Oh? We are at war? Really?..........really?

Japan422.jpg

{China}

It hasn't been mentioned yet, so Crispy may or may not have noticed, Japanese do have IW2, really, it will just keep the Chinese from driving them off the continent this game.

Japan423.jpg

Notice all those forts way out by Lanchow, just in case.

March 1, 1942

Action around the globe. The Japanese quickly strike and occupy Thailand, Hong Kong, Brunei, and the Soloman Islands. The Dutch East Indies, and Phillipines are covered in Japanese forces, but still fighting. The Dutch Navy sails in all directions, no sense fighting it out yet.

No Pearl Harbour means the US Navy is looking very very strong to start. A Japanse sub in the Pacific nails the Yamato flagship for 2 points.

Not much news in Russia, the snow is bogging everything down. Scooks is starting to use his corps as human shields to block his stronger units from possible tank attacks. Franco's Spain joins the Axis, making fortress Europe a little stronger.

Chinese pop another Jap Army near Chengchow for 4 points. We are getting good at that. USA sends Gerneral Stillwell to China.
