They are great pics! Thanks Scook.

France could fall as soon as next turn, if not then surely the next. The snow is gone and it appears spring has come. With the Italians set to move into Bordeaux there will be nothing left standing except Paris. Our capital besieged we share what little ammo that is left with the surrounding defending units. A British cruiser pings a German Army on the coast.

In Africa Beghazi has been cleared of all Italians. We need now only march in to rebuild. There is nothing standing between O'Connor and victory at Tripoli except it's defending corps. With no leadership coming from France the French Navy goes berzerk and sails into Italian waters looking for some firefights. We draw only 2 hits from parked Naval units while taking heavy losses.

In East Africa the blackshirts and Sudan defenders still engage, nothing happening though. A corps from Rhodesia captures the Italian port. The Italian Airforce has obviously abandoned

China: The Japanese continue to ping us, but we stand stall. The "Flying Tigers" have arrived.

Mud. Mud is everywhere, except the desert, of course. Too much around Paris to maneuver properly, so we keep slamming the infantry. I put Hoepner in harm's way by sitting him right in front of Paris, in front of those Char-B tanks that haven't done too much. I don't think there will be an elimination, but this could hurt. Besides the tank in Paris, there is a 1 strength corp and a 2 strength army left on the map. Our units have been apologizing for having to kill the Frogs, but then we do thank them for all the experience we have been receiving.

HMS Cumberland did sally forth to shore bombard and failed, which brings up two points for me. 1) Tac air is so much more deadly to ships than I remember in any previous version of SC, and 2) Cruiser are rather worthless ships, trying to do the job of both BB and DD, and failing miserably at both. German Stukas score 5 hits, and U-32 comes in to finish the job.

Bengazi holds! Mainly because there was no one left to advance into town after routing the Italians. I secretly believe the army melted away once both carriers were parked next to the port.

[Asia]

We have codenamed Chinese units 'Charley'. Right now my units sit in the rain and mud, getting weaker, while Charley sits in his caves, eating rice, getting stronger.

Hmm, no pics, things closely resemble what you already see above. Once things change up a bit, the military paparazzi will get back in the action.

Paris is surrounded there is nothing I can do. The French Armour takes a pop at the 4th Army behind Paris, 5 damage, he's down to 3. There is nothing else to do. I reinforce the corps and Army that helps hold the Capital. It's the only city left in France. The Danish have allowed Germany to just walk in, and the Axis controls what would have been Greenland.

Benghazi is occupied by the Brits. We continue down the road to Tripoli. 2 Carriers with Naval support move forward and reduce everything to 0. Entrenchment, the city, the port. The Italians want to make a stand. They boast infantry weapons lv.2 and have Italian HQ. The French Navy working against the clock continue to harrass Italian Navy units, not sure if this is good or not. French sub hits another cruiser in port, it does 1 damage. A sinking Battleship tries to bombard Rome. I don't even think they woke anyone up.

In East Africa the Sudanese take a hit themselves and back off, the Blackshirts have reinforced their unit. They would rather be an annoyance.

China: The Stalemate continues. The war is costing the Japanese more then the Chinese.

Paris has fallen 7 months after the Germany Army began it's invasion of France. The French government installed Vichy, and be damned if we recgonize that. The French colonies are divided but French Equitorial Africa is on our side. From Britain we take a fly over France to see what's going on attacking an Italian bomber with our own fighters, but are intercepted. Our fighter and the Italian bomber takes a hit. Operation Catapult goes off without a hitch, so much for the Algerian Navy.

In North Africa we continue to pound any supply that the Italians have. Our assault on Tripoli will come soon. The Italian Navy remains quiet. In the East we foolishly puled away from the Blackshirts and they have spanking new weapons (lv.2). Oh well he'll make good target practice soon. A formation of random corps are closing in, and we've captured the unguarded coastal town.

China: The Japanese continue to fire sandbags. We take some bruises, but nothing gets bloody.

The lights have gone out on the continent, and the Fuhrer imposes a blackout. Everything is now being consolidated and we will lift the ban after that occurs. Nice to have the French Navy in safe hands, the right hands. Without their lackeys, the Royal British Navy seems to have vanished.

Oh yes, almost forgot, British fighter destroyed in Great Britain, by cruiser bombardment and fighters attacking their landing fields.

Germany turns down the chance to take French gold, let Greene-Slade event occur.

China

Massive plinking of Chang Sha happens, army there reduced to a 3, Japanese land forces take 3 hits. Carrier based bombers strike hard, take losses, but demoralize the 8th Army in the city.

Seelowe is a go! The Germans have become Amphibious. The Royal Navy tries to fight back. The Illustrious Carrier fights through intercepts to hit an Axis cruiser and a Battleship finishes it off southwest of London. An axis submarine dives from destroyer attacks and catches The Royal Oak off guard as it attempts to open up the blockade formed between Brussels and London. The Royal oak takes 5 damage. Damn subs! British troops try hurry to the coast to block landings by the city. We are certainly not defensless but I'm not sure how this will turn out. The USA is watching.

In Africa the final attack on Tripoli is underway. The corps takes a few hits, but it could take a few turns with the HQ there. Too bad the Royal Navy was busy down here.

China: The Japs finally make their move on Cheng Sha. In retaliation the Chinese raise 2 new Armies, to reinforce the wall from Nanning to Chengsha. It will be a tough nut to crack.

In the world of geopolitics, one must be willing to trade one territory for another. In this case, Britain appears willingly to trade Great Britain for Africa. The Nationalist Socialist Party has run the numbers, and finds this agreeable. Just the one sub escaping last turn will loom large this turn, giving me full strike capability on my turn. The Battle for the North Sea and English Channel is on!

July 7, 1940, Europe: Here is the situation at hand:

German70740.jpg

Gneisau was sunk, but Graf Spee had enough time to slip into port for upgrades (Naval War 1) and supplies and make its way to help with the blockade. U-32 kept edging east to support controlling the western side of the Channel, as that BB will soon find out. Once I land two or three more British corps will pop up to make themselves more troublesome than pictured.

Post invasion:

German707402.jpg

2 BB and 1 DD go to Davy Jones' locker. The cruiser in port narrowly escapes being sunk in port. Trupen land and plink away at the corps, along with air strikes. No British land units destroyed, but very weak. Bock makes his approach, supply will be limited, but we are in good shape.

{China}

Plink! Plink!

Japan declares war on Indochina, and we take it with no fight. Finally, some success! After bombing from 3 carriers and assualts from 6 armies, Changsha has fallen. The keystone is destroyed, the rest of the walls will now give in.

that's always a danger if you expend your navy too early or send too much off to fight on other fronts...

This is true. In my strategy, I had about a 60% chance of invading Britain. Once I saw 2 carriers in the Med, the chance went to 100%. However, I do like the British Blitz in Africa, and in many circumstances, he would get away with it.

I've never seen anyone win who Sealions in any PBEM game. Upsets America and Soviets and costs way too much money. Lets see......

I theorized about a dozen different ways, so I came up with something I wanted to try........so if I can pull it off, I'll be the 1st :D When you come to the cage match, go big or go home.

The invasion of Britain continues, with the British hurrying their corps defenders around the island. We try to block/delay more landings around London by stationing our corps along the Southern coast. A British bomber out of intercept range nails Bock for a hit, and a corps strikes but doesn't muster anything. The British cruiser at strength 1 escapes London's port and dashes into the sea. The Royal Navy does not counter attack, their are too many subs lurking around. Our defender in London is entrenched x6 and the BEF Army in Bristol x4. We are ready to dog it out. The Germans are fully commiting to Seelowe. I am pretty sure I am seeing more troops loading into transports.

In North Africa Italy's hold on Libya is over. We capture Tripoli behind strikes from 2 Army's and a corps, backed by Naval support. An Italian HQ holds control of the port. They have not a square to move. In the East the Blackshirts are annoying we strike twice with corps doing nothing, we take a hit.

Asia: A Chinese army takes a swing at the Japanase Army occupying Cheng Sha. A 1-0 loss for us. We continue to play it safe. Communist 100 regiments is brought into action for an offensive that will likely not happen.

Some more plinking, nothing serious to report

{Britian}

Some major plinking, british corp dies, one more army lands. London reduced to supply 0, Narwich (adjacent port) reduced to 2. Family pets are on the menu. Entrenchment in London halved also. That big friggen 2 star army with infantry weapon 2 is going to be a nightmare for any close by British. Depending on weather............we will probably have a go at London next turn.

Edit: pictures will wait till next turn, had a long work day, just happy to get the turn done and post this.....(the downside of owning your business, 7/24).

Sir, criticism is allowed, I didn't take it as such, and I don't strike back, at least not without logic :). Uhm, you know, I didn't look at reactions. In the 12 test runs I did, USA normally pops to 39%, and USSR goes to 40%, so I will assume until the next turn arrives those are the numbers.

And people, please feel free to voice opinions! I have never seen anyone do a Sealion and win either! Focus on taking a port? I can't disagree, but I feel pretty comfortable with my siege of London, especially with A) the size of the British fleet in the Med, and B) all 6 British ships sunk were on home guard duty. So yes, voice what you see, and maybe someone will learn from it. We need to make more wargamers!

Seelowe Espisode II: The British strike back!

British reinforcements poor into battle as the US offers the UK destoryers in return for Caribbean colonies, we graciously accept. The naval situation is lookign a tad better around home base. US made french aircraft is delivered to Canada and Manchester, and the 7th armour is formed on our home island, as well we show off some fresh units.

British bombers soften up Bock and with the help of a british corps the 7th armour sends Bock straight back to Germany. The German armies are left to fend for themselves. There only hope for supply; British occupied London, is smashed to bits, the closest port is the same story. A very tough road lies ahead for our nemesis.

In the Med. the Italian navy has been quiet. Too quiet. Maybe it's time to draw them out. The Malta corps goes for a swim and lands in Cagliari we pop a fresh cruiser for 4 points. Italy should be short a port or 2 by my count by now. The Italian HQ near Tripoli is dead, we take the port. It's lights out for the Axis on this side, no more eyes on our navy.

China: It's all quiet on my end. "Charlie" is getting used to the cave life.

Damn emergency troops! Well, not the 1st setback, won't be the last. It was rather close without ammunition, but bayonets and more invaders fell London. It will take some time to get the port in working order too. September 1st? Hmm, I feel like I slept through a turn, time is a slipping away quickly. So, here's what it looks like at the moment:

German90140.jpg

It's going to be bloody.

{China}

Japan does more thorazine shuffling. Some more pinging.

Oh, US us at 26%, and USSR is at 41%.

Edit: Ok, I just couldn't let him walk in free when I can do something about. Albania corps faces against Malta corps on Sardinia.

The battle of Britain continues. UK Tac Air takes a swing at the Hoepner tank group and then the 7th armour pulls a hit and run to reducing the German armour to 4. The Germans are still all supply 0. The British have fromed a straight line of defence from Bristol to New Castle (port) to protect Manchester. Other than the attack on Hoepner we reinforce the lines and hope we can hold.

The malta corps is in for an ugly fight for Cagliari port in the Med.

In China we are seeing aggressive Japanese ground activity, we are starting to take some big hits. Even still only Chang Sha and Foochow have fallen in the past year.
