Other Wars/Conflicts for CM?

Recommended Posts

Lets remember these titles aren't exactly 'thrown together'. The take grinding work to get done properly. Especially since we're not talking a thousand man operation here.

If some established, enterprising little game house in... Singapore perhaps... came forward with a proposal for a CM:Indochina title, or maybe a more obscure CM:China/Japan WWII title I wonder how tempted they'd be to accept. One assumes there are markets for wargames out there beyond the 'usual suspects'... and there are lots of computer literate Chinese. :);)

I don't think a small company would have any hope of making a profit in the Mainland China market where games are instantly pirated. I heard a interview with a Taiwan based boardgame representative the other day and even board games are pirated within a couple of weeks and sold much cheaper than the licensed copy in the PRC. Steve also mentioned once that Combat Mission is exactly the opposite of what the Japanese market wants.

That said, I put my thinking cap on. Aparently Snowball will be doing the Eastfront when the WWII engine matures and I don't see another niche for a Eastern European company but maybe some Spanish developer would be interested in doing the Spanish Civil War. Wild speculation over.

  • 2 weeks later...
Theoretical "CHECHNYA" can be a MOD, now we have Soviets TO&E (it's similar to RA 1994-96) and we have Syrian unconventional forces and mujaheddins. If all it unite and do some graphic mods, may do Chechnya "module"...

would love to see it, but can we at least get the soldiers to carry true AK-74's as opposed to all of them having AKS-74's? ahem

35USD actually is too expensive for people in PRC. If there is 35RMB Chinese version, I think most people will turn to the licensed copy.:)

Real Conflicts:

1. Korea

2. Vietnam - Both France and US

Hypothetical:

1. Red Dawn: Russia and various CA and SA States vs US and UK on US and UK soil.

2. Israel: I'd like to see the historical conflicts, but the gloves only came off a couple times. Keeping it fictional would allow the devs to get creative. There are so many possibilities here.

3. Korea 2012

4. Anything involving (US) and Iran after today.
