denalipop
Hi, I have CMBO, CMBB, and CMAK from years ago, and just got them working on my Vista machine (with the 104 patch). Back when CMBO came out, I installed a bunch of scenery/terrain mods, which made it look much nicer than the defaults. However, that was ages ago, and on a different computer. I'm now trying to figure out which mods to download, and what order I'll need to install them in... But the old sites I used are no longer there. So, I am just wondering: does anyone have a list of recommended scenery-related mods for CMBO, the sites where they can be found, and the order in which they should be installed? Thanks so much!
KG_Jag
It's been five years or more since I modded CMBO, but the best place to find CM x 1 mods is GreenAsJade's CM Mods Warehouse: http://cmmods.greenasjade.net/
denalipop
Thanks! I'm looking through the Green As Jade database as we speak... Any recommendations for grass and tree mods? Those are the ones that seem the most critical at the moment...
Mord
Anything you can find by Magua (Normandy Mod) and Gunslinger are highly recommended...that is if you like subdude colors...I used them with a mix of DD's trees and Tom's Bulge mod. It's too bad because only a month or so ago I threw out all my old CMBO Mod CDs (don't play CMX1 anymore)...and I had every mod made going all the way back to Combat Mission HQ and Kump's old site... denalipop
Thanks for the info, Mord! When you were playing the old CMs, do you remember if you used a mod manager? Or did you install all those mods manually? Also, I am curious, aren't all the new CMs about modern conflicts, like in the Middle East? Has anyone created good WW2 mods and scenarios for them, or are you stuck in the modern theme?
Mord
Thanks for the info, Mord! When you were playing the old CMs, do you remember if you used a mod manager? Or did you install all those mods manually? You are welcome. If you have a hard time finding any of those mods I mentioned, ask around, somebody might still have them. I didn't use the mod manager...I basically would make a copy of my CMBO BMP folder before adding anything, then rename it, for ex. Original BMP (though if you have the CD the folder is accessible right from it...not like in CMBB). Then I'd load all the Terrain mods into CMBO's BMP folder, and once I had the look I wanted I would make a zip of just those mods and set it aside, so I always had a copy in case I screwed it up. I did the same thing for vehicles too. Also, I am curious, aren't all the new CMs about modern conflicts, like in the Middle East? Has anyone created good WW2 mods and scenarios for them, or are you stuck in the modern theme? Shock Force and Afghanistan are the modern Titles we have/will have so far. BFC plans on making a Shock Force 2 later on, centered around modern Ruskie equipment VS Nato, set in a temperate climate. As for modding WWII from CMSF...that's impossible...HOWEVER...no need....check these out... http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?t=91606 http://www.battlefront.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1466&Itemid=415 Those are all beta shots...so it can only get better! WWII is looking Sweet! If you need anymore help...just ask. Mord.
Mord
P.S. Here's another! P.S.S. You can find lots of info about the WWII game in the Shock Force forum...it's where everything about it is discussed until they open a forum just for it....try putting CM:N or CM Normandy in your searches, that should get you some good hits.
