phantom67
Hey guys. I keep getting the following error message when trying to install CMAK. I'm running Windows Vista, the game used to work fine back when I had XP, and CMBB also runs without any problems. An error occurred while trying to copy a file: I/O error 23 (common.exe) Any ideas? Cheers phantom
Moon
Are you installing with full admin rights?
Schrullenhaft
If you're installing from a CD, you may want to copy the file(s) on the CD to the hard disk and run the install from there. And as Moon pointed out, you'll want to right-click on the installer and select "Run as administrator" from the pop-up menu to start the install.
phantom67
I've tried running it as admin to no avail, and when I try to copy it to my disk, I get an error message saying "Cannot read from the source file or disc" Any other suggestions?
Schrullenhaft
Sounds like there is something wrong with the disc. Possibly cleaning it may help (with some warm water and dish soap). I'd also suggest temporarily disabling any anti-virus/firewall/internet security software you may have running that could potentially interfere with the copying the files or the installation process. Does CMBB currently work with this computer or only in the past with XP ? Did CMAK work on this particular computer in the past (assuming that it had an OS upgrade to Vista) or is this a completely different computer from when CMAK worked with XP ?
phantom67
CMBB works perfect on my current system (with Vista 64). I don't recall having tried CMAK on my current system (as I've upgraded fairly recently). I guess the files on the disc are probably corrupt. If I can find CMAK in the Bargain bin, I might just buy it again (I managed to get CMBB that way for a measly $10AUD).
Schrullenhaft
If you have another computer, you could try copying the CD to that hard disk and then moving the files with either a burned CD or a USB flash memory drive.
