Moon
The Stage is set! Theatre of War Release Date announced 1C and Battlefront.com are thrilled to announce the official release date for Theatre of War, the much anticipated World War Two real-time strategy game by the creators of IL-2 Sturmovik and the makers of Combat Mission! Theatre of War will be released worldwide on April 19, 2007 . The game is not sold in stores due to Battlefront’s “independent publisher” policy, and is available directly from www.battlefront.com with several purchase options: - digital download for $45 - mail delivery for $45 plus S&H - both immediate download AND mail delivery for $55 plus S&H All mail orders are shipped out of Battlefront’s two warehouses located in the US and in Ireland, Europe. Pre-orders will be opening later this week with an extra $10 savings, and a free downloadable Gold demo is planned for early April. Localized versions of Theatre of War are already in the making for Spain, Italy and France, and WILL be released in stores in those countries by Battlefront’s partner distributors later this year. STATEMENTS Martin van Balkom, Battlefront.com president: Many people have been waiting for this day for a long time. Formerly known under the working title WW2RTS this game has seen a long and let’s say “eventful” development cycle during which it has been voted several times as one of the top 10 most anticipated titles. With the joint venture between 1C and our team at Battlefront the expectations have even grown, and after a few busy months of concentrated efforts since last year the game that so many fans have been dreaming about is almost ready for prime time. We’re excited and thrilled about the end product which is building a bridge between fun and fast real-time action while at the same time presenting the player with a credible simulation of World War Two combat from all the European fronts. The stage has been set for the Theatre of War! Nikolay Baryshnikov, International Sales Director, 1C Company: We are happy that the development stage of Theatre of War has finally reached its finish line. We were working on it for a long period of time and tried to take into account as many opinions and requests of the community as possible. We wanted to make a game we would be proud of. By all means the final verdict will be delivered by customers but I think that together with Battlefront we made Theatre of War a game capable of setting new standards for the genre. Lanzfeld
Even though it is'nt perfect (can't enter buildings and no heavy woods) I WILL be buying this game and supporting its development so we can hope for a patch to fix the things they could not put in it or a TOW 2. Good job! [ March 20, 2007, 07:15 AM: Message edited by: Lanzfeld ]

theBrit
It would not be a pre-order if you could DL that day....think about it!
Reichenberg
Congratulations to the two teams!! A long wait after first hearing about this game in 2002 comes finally to an end. Now delivering a good game and fulfilling all the expectations of us gamers will be the smallest step Normally I am very, let's say 'sceptical' about marketing statements. But I will definitely sign the two statements of Moon and of NB. How true about the development phase and our hopes for the game. Now I wish us gamers the ball of our lifes with ToW and 1C and Battlefront a commercial success with ToW. May there be many add-ons and sequels coming.... Amen Uwe

Yskonyn
First and foremost: congrats!! You will definately receive my money One question though, will this game have a nice big manual like CM which we get when we order the disk version? You gotta love manuals! I'd say time for a new set of matches, Sivodsi?

pad152
Wow, so the game will only be $35? ($45 - $10 pre-order)
Moon
No, $55 - $10. The manual is close to 80 pages, and the mail-delivery version includes a DVD box with full printed manual inside (both the download and mail version include a PDF of course) Martin
theBrit
Hold up moon.....let me get this straight because your previous post does imply $35. So for Digital download customers only - pre-ordering gives no savings, its $45 regardless?
Avwriter
Look at it this way. If you preorder, you get both versions for the price of one. That's the deal. He mentioned this in another thread last week.
Avwriter
Actually, having never purchased a Battlefornt game before, I have a couple of questions about how it works. 1. Is it permitted to install your games on two computers (desktop + laptop)? 2. How is the printed manual bound?
