weasello
I've been out of commission for nearly a month with my crappy ATI X1900 Pro w/ 512mb video card... Texture corruption and geometry corruption in every OpenGL application... But I managed to fix it by trading up to an nVidia 7800GTX OC SLI. > See you guys on the battlefield! (woo, 4 updates...) ClaytoniousRex
Wow. Weasel, I'll be quite curious to know how far up you can pump the graphics options and still maintain a good framerate. For example, start with 800x600 with HDR, foliage, shadows, etc. all on. Then try 1024x768, then 1600x1200... Even with that monster rig, I'll bet HDR at 1600x1200 will slow it down. Congrats on your new setup!
Balzac
I hade a 7800 GT 256 and it runs DT with everything on at 1280 x 1024 no problem. I just upgraded to a 7900 GTX 512 and it smokes pritty much every game I have with everything turned on and at 1600 x 1200 including DT. Is there a way to tell frame rates ingame? ClaytoniousRex
Yes, in-game you can send a chat message that looks exactly like this in order to show frame rate:
code:

/showfps true
Balzac
Under /showfps true everything turned on and running at 1280 x 1024 Icefields: 24.5 low 45 avrg 75 High Raid: 19.61 low 32 avrg 75 High Specs 7900 GTX 512 AMD64 X2 4400 2 Gigs Ram I have to say all in all the FPS was rite about were I guessed they would be. Any plans on further tweeking to get the low up a little higher?
weasello
lessee... Everything turned on, and all settings cranked up (4x anti aliasing), 1280x1024... Raid: 11 fps was my lowest, but that was staring directly into 2 exploding buildings and several burning tanks with dust and fog everywhere average was 28 If I was looking away from the central town I could easily get 80fps. Considering the game is somewhat slower paced and doesn't require "twitch" reactions, the game is very playable even at 15fps. I'm happy. My specs are AMD 64 4000+, 7800 GTX OC w/256mb, 2gb RAM. I'm suprised there's not more of a difference between my rig and the one posted above. I say, introduce new graphical options so we can scale upwards A game that scales it's graphics into the future has more staying power!
kapps
How do you get the fps to display? I don't see many slowdowns running everything maxed at 1680x1050 on a quad G5 w/7800gt 256MB and 3GB ram.
Kurtz
Press Return to get the chat prompt. Type /showfps true to enable fps info. Type /showfps false to disable.
