cyberfunk Posted March 23, 2006 Share Posted March 23, 2006 I'm not sure if this is restricted to Mac OS X, but on my iMac G5 ( 2 Ghz, 1 GB Ram, Radeon 9600, 128 MB), it's taking forever to "cache objects". Is this normal ? I dont have the graphics settings particularly high, and I've even tried turning them down from the default. It takes about 5 minutes to load each game, and everytime there's a map switch I have to endure it all over again... It's really sort of annoying. Is this a known issue? Is it an "issue" ? filo Posted March 23, 2006 Share Posted March 23, 2006 It's a bit slow to load on my machine also (G5 2.5x2/nv6800/3.5GB) "cache objects" seems to take the longest here too. 5 min. seems really slow. Doing the object cache is indeed the slowest (and therefore most annoying) part of loading, but 5 minutes is awfully extreme. Can you measure the actual time it's taking and post that number here? I tested it on a 2.4ghz Celeron with 512mb ram (win98) and it loaded a full minute faster than on the dual 1.25 G4 with 1gb ram..
