I d/l the Demo couple nights ago and am rather impressed with it EXCEPT there is no "Save Game" feature. Is there one in the full game?

Kind of anoying when you need to go somewhere/bedtime/work time/family time etc. away from computer and you've just put an hour or so of getting your a## whipped ( )trying to make that %$#@% AI driver go a better way to the next "Way point" :( ( or whatever ) and there is NO way to save the game untill you get a chance to play the game again.

I mean "Come On" don't people have lives other than 24/7 on a tank game ?

Because of this "Lack Of" feature I may not buy the CD. Shame to because this could be a good game. :(

Sorry to hear this sim has no "Save game" feature and I do disagree on "Uncommon" to have a save feature on a real time simulator, for I have "Silent Hunter 3" which is a real time WWII Submarine simulator which uses a dynamic, random campaign engine based on historical reality and it darn sure has a save feature, in fact it has a manual save and an automatic save setup. I also have "Microsoft Train Simulator" in real time that has several "Save" features.

In REAL life in a tank, submarine, train, etc NO we do not have a "Save" but we are talking about "Virtue Games" and it is very unreasonable not to have a "save" feature in a real time simulator or just some standard game that you may want to "save" your results untill a later time.

Too many Devs out there today trying to make us do what THEY think is best.

If there is a save feature on a Sim/Game and you do not wish to save then DON'T save, but it should be there for the ones who do want to save.

But at least in T-72 campaign progress is saved, glad they thought of that.

If a save in game feature would be incorporated in a future patch/addon I'll bet there would be a lot more copies of "T-72 Balkans on Fire!" sold.

Why don't you start a poll on this forum asking who wants an ingame save and whom do not.

You may be very suprised by the outcome. Of course it may be me who is suprised, give it a try and lets see. ;)

rattlesnake, the two sims you mentioned are rather... (looking for the right word here) long-winded. T72 is a rather fast paced game in which you'll rarely need more than, say, 30 minutes to complete a mission. And often much less than that. The combat is usually fast and furious when the lead starts flying. Hence no save feature (of course there is a save feature for the campaign in between battles though)

Would it have been nice? Yup. Is it good to give people options? Yup, the more the better. Is it really essential for the game? No.

A good developer will identify those areas which are essential and leave out what isn't. This ensures that a game is actually delivered on time. And in many cases it makes a game better, by leaving unnecessary clutter out and focussing on what is the core game experience. There are many examples out there of games which are great at the core but are overweighted with unnecessary stuff, and therefore are unnecessarily hard to play and enjoy.

One other such example for T72 is the exclusion of interior views. Would it be nice to have it in the game? Sure thing. But by not including them, the dev team was able to focus on the core design for the game, i.e. tank vs tank combat.

Why such a long-winded answer, rattlesnake? Well, you seem to know more about game development and game marketing than any one of us here, so I thought I'd at least share our chain of thought and approach to this. So at least we can disagree on a professional level here.

Martin ;)
