A christmas present for Zapp

Speaking of combat rolls, what are the odds that Ardenner army+HQ fall on turn 3 after doing a counter on a tank with 2-3 odds?

i had 2-3 odds on that tank, got -1 and went 10->7 and then you destroyed Ardenner Forrest Army (HQ+entrench L1) with army+corps+3 air.

Getting 9 good rolls and 1 bad might be bad overall because some battle rolls are so so important, like in Chess :D

I think I might have had 75% chance of pulling that counter off... and then my air strategy might have been successive (since Poland held for a while making Axis weak in the west with that damaged tank) who knows... smile.gif

Delaying Axis in France 2-3 turns longer is worth alot of MPP's but a delayed Minors+Spain is worth a whole lot more. Unfortunately, neither did happen in our games but it sure could have. I held Paris till August against the best Axis player in the world despite losing Ardenner forrest on turn 3, I am dangerous... I am Zapp :D

I know you trust in luck and normally restart a game until you get your desired combat rolls and tech advances...if you try it often enough, no doubt you can kill Axis sometimes with this strategy - but I prefer to use the better strategy and to win in the first try ;) .

This strategy simply is only good against new or impatient (like Rambo ;) ) axis players and when Allies have a lot of luck. In average they will loose France early (April-July 40, just have a look at our 3 games...) and will sacrifice way too much mpps to be dangerous any more in the long run.

I had a look at our last old games too with you as Allies - you used exactly the same identical strategy, including giving up the Med. It didn´t work last year and now after all this time where new and better strategies got developed it is

clearly a sure way to loose against a good and prepared axis opponent.

So in the end:

Sorry, as long as you use this obsolete strategy, you are no danger at all :D .

@Zapp --- Hey! You're boasting about our games last week? Poland doesn't surrender x2? I tried a "kitchen sink" out of boredom? Then, when I brought my A-game, you had +2 Jet advantage on all fronts. Anyhow, I was going to slate my record, I've being playing anti-cookie-cutter against the world. I even lost to Waltero by building rockets on turn #3.

@Terif --- Yes, I am impatient, one quality that doesn't help in SC. I realize my weakness & must deal with it to be a factor for #1. My game has gotten worse by fighting bums.

"Not so fast my friend" --- famous quote by Lee Corso, ESPN announcer & former Big Ten football coach.

Yooooda?!

I resigned early in 1 out of 3 games against the best player in the world. I cannot see how that makes me a "gamble and resign" player?

If I had resigned games every now and then I would not have reached 85% victories in ISCL.

As far as real SC gambling, I have used the "kitchen sink" in Poland only 2-3 times out of all my ~150 Axis games. I have used LC gambit I think 1-2 times out of ~150 Allied games.

Compare that to Rambo and it is quite obvious what "gamble and resign" means in the attribute "gaming style:", right Rambo? :D

Gamble or not, I held Paris until August despite failing a gamble did not I? :D

We will continue somewhat on the weekend i guess.

Good AAR from both

Why suggest me not using certain strategies?

Look I told you before, get off Terif's boots. :D

Concerning France:

With an aggressive defence it nearly always falls early. That it survived until August was due to good combat rolls for Allies...and Axis didn´t want to go the risky path, otherwise Paris could have fallen much earlier since it was empty several turns - some lucky airstrikes and Game over for Allies ;) . However, with this strategy Allies loose every mpp in France and can not save something for later. Germany has no problems replacing its losses later since it gets much more mpps, but when Allies don´t prepare and save some mpps for D-day, Axis have an easy game ;) .

Seems some dudes have built upon and maximized the Allied Air Strategies now. I do not think Allies need more than normal luck to win with it now, it is a 50-50 situation. :D
