The retreating Italian Army in North Africa is no more. Dublin taken and robed of all it's goodies. We still have a line in Russia dispite the dark sky. Panzer39 Posted August 30, 2003 Author Share Posted August 30, 2003 Early June German Forces make a break through in Southern Russia, destroying two corps and moving through the gap encircling two more. In the North another break through is forced, killing 1 corps. A subsequent attack is made on a Russian Armor division that was involved in destroying a German army last month. The Luftwaffe follow up destroying them. Russian units that went on an offensive last month through the marshes are brought down to half strength. The only good thing is that I put the Army group close to Minsk out of supply for the moment. In the south it will be harder to hold the line that has a opening a bit southeast of Kiev. US green spotted near Iraq, intelligence believes that they may plan to attack. Goering hopes they do so that the Luftwaffe will have something to bomb when Russia runs out of troops. The Germans destroy half a dozen corps and seize a mine and the unguarded city of Smolensk. Another break through is made in the Center of Russia allowing Minsk to be encircled, hopefully trapping four damaged units there. The men of the German army talk of being home by Christmas. The corps and Smolensk has been cut off, however if they can hold out they should be relieved next week. Supply must be a problem for Axis now when the frontline is Leningrad, Moskwka, Voronezh, Stalingrad, Rostov and Sevastopol. A line of Russian units does't exist any more except in the Leningrad/Moskwa area. Russian economy is getting very low and we can't replace our losses. US and UK forces has landed in Norway. Only two corps were destroyed partly due to the commitment of most of the Luftwaffe in taking Leningrad and partly because the Russians have run so far away that they cannot be shot at.
