Testers needed for map converter

Recommended Posts

I wrote a programm and I am curious if it runs on other pc's. Is there anybody interested in testing an app (around 100 KB)?

The app should be able to convert CMAK maps in CMBB maps or battle in scenario maps and vice versa.

If there's someone interested I would like to email the exe file.

Thanks in advance.

Yes it is!

Reitweiner Sporn... 2+km x 2+km CMBB Operation map...

10 minutes later...

Reitweiner-Sporn.jpg

CMAK Battle map. As far as I can tell so far, no editting required to the final map.

This is an amazing tool!

i had no problem with 1800 x 1800 map. but in whichever game editor, change the default open ground 800 x 800 to the size of the map you copied. then when you load it, poof all is well.

i also copied a large cmak battle map, into a cmak operation file!!!! of course the units dont transfer, but this is great news.

then i ran to the SD and got those perch maps.

Steppes are replaced with vineyards, and factories probably aren't compatible either.
yes, that's a mistake..I simply forgot that. Is it better to replace Steppe with Open? and Vineyards with Open?

-Factories are replaced with big houses, there's nothing similar in CMAK.

- big hedges in CMAK are fences in CMBB. I didn't notice that there are normal hedges in CMBB. A conversion to normal hedges would be better I guess!?

I just can't figure why sometimes it works perfectly, sometimes just throws in a run-time error.
That's what I can't get rid off. It is indeed memory related. The only thing I can recommend is save memory by closing all other applications and don't run both CMAK and CMBB at the same time (then there're less error messages..)

You are a God! Thank you! Thank you! Bloody fast it works! It took me exactly 2 Minutes from loading my Perch I map (3280x1520) in CMBB to having a look at it in CMAK. Wonderfull!

A small glitch exists: It converts railway tiles to large hedge tiles, this one needs fixing.

My System specs: WinXP-Pro, Barton 2500+, Epox ep8rda3+, 1024MB DDR 333, Nvidia FX5950 256MB.

cheers

What is other's opinion on the CMAK bocage to CMBB conversion thing? Maybe use wall instead, that at least is a bit harder to cross... half tracks wouldn't get through.

Sergei,

no real preferences here. small hedge will do fine for me as well and it might not look that strange in BB if you have the habbit, like me, to constantly alternate bocage tiles with small hedges to circumvent some of the engines limitations to modell bocage.

IMHO you have to edit the converted map by hand anyways, so small hedge tiles might be less laborious for the designer.
