gashford
RM Commando 2.5 years. This might amuse you USMC types... I was the little one 5'7". USMC guy was huge... what is it with you guys, how did you all get to be so big, I don't think I ever saw a small US Marine. Young Royal Marine to large hulking USMC, 'What does the US in USMC stand for?' USMC bends down to talk to the litte guy, it means United States sonny...' 'Oh I thought it meant unservicable.' Fight ensued... =) actually happened.
Zamo
6'1", great size for a tanker! You know, most of the guys I knew in the Marines WERE all on the tall size. There were some noteworthy exceptions. I had one Gunnery Sergeant who couldn't have been over 5'2" and he was one of the toughest SOB's I've ever known. Fantastic fellow. USMC stands for Uncle Sams Misguided Children...Obviously! Semper Fi, Zamo Zamo

gashford
A little of topic here, but in the US is a vet someone that has simply served in the armed forces, whether they have seen combat or not. In teh UK a vet is generally a survivor of the WW2... just curious?

I work in a VA hospital emergency room. And I completely honor and appreciate all that has ever been done by all Vets of all wars and peacetime. Cav Gunner
It's good to see so many military types around here. I'm currently going to college at Colorado State (aka White Bread world) and so vets are few and far between. I was a M1A1 tank crewman, 93-96, in D Co 2/8 Cav, 1st Cavalry Division (Fort Hood). As time progressed I went from being a Driver, to Loader, to Gunner. Eventually I became the platoon commander's gunner, and finally the XO's gunner. Must have been doing something right.
