Megalon Jones
The implementation of star shells and flares would make a great improvement for night fighting in the WW2 titles. Could it be done? I'm assuming the problem is with the Tac AI's visibility and viewing regimes. Just a thought.
Holman
I think modeling individual starshells/flares would probably be more trouble than it is worth. But as I understand it, map-wide lighting and visibility are not only modeled but are variable with time (as you see whenever you play a dawn or evening scenario lasting a couple of hours). Maybe it would be possible to have sudden battlefield-wide increases and then gradual decreases of lighting to simulate starshells and flares? I think I'd put this lower on my wish list than many other things, though.
SimpleSimon
Cool to see it one day, otherwise abstracted easily enough by present mechanics.
Oddball-47
Personally, I think this would be a fantastic addition to the CM series! How cool would it be to be playing a night scenario and watching 'em burst in the air, lighting up for awhile various parts of the battlefield, then fading/dropping to earth? You're sneaking a platoon across a relatively open area in the dark of night when suddenly they're all caught 'neath the glow of starshells? This would be, as we used to say in Boston back in the '60s: "wicked pissa!" Regards, Odd
