If I had to guess one is belt, the other is in clips for the Garand. Just the way it was issued(boxes with belts in them vs. bandoleers of clips), and probably hard to assemble a belt from the mmg from the clips, especially during a battle.

Been a while since I touched my WW2 CM titles, but isn't M2 carbine ammo listed at .30car? I want to make sure I'm not confusing myself.

Whats the difference between .30cal m1 and .30cal m2? can the mmg fire .030cal m1?

.30cal M1Car is used in the M1 Carbine

.30cal M2 is used in the M1 Garand, M1919 MMG, M1917 HMG, M1918 Springfield (scoped,

bolt-action marksmans's rifle), and BAR.

.45cal ACP is used in the Thompson, M3 Grease Gun and the M1911 pistol

The armor piercing round in .30-06 (same as M2) is also designated M2. So the Springfield-chambered weapons in #2 above can fire two different kinds of M2 ammo.

The game abstracts this. When you acquire ammo it magically is in a belt or in clips or both - which ever your squad requires.

Wait, what?! There is magic in CM?!? That does it for me. I thought the game was all about realism. Now I have to go get a REAL game 😈😇🤯
