z1812
For your pleasure. https://www.thestar.com/news/gta/2018/12/28/this-tank-arsenal-near-oshawa-is-a-secret-the-military-museum-wants-shared.html http://www.ontrmuseum.ca/tankmuseum/ I live in Toronto and wouldn't mind going to see the museum. If other forum members who live around Toronto would like to go, then perhaps we can plan a joint trip. PM me if interested.
Heirloom_Tomato
I went there this summer with the family and it is indeed a great place to stop in and check out. We went on a weekday and pretty much had the place to ourselves. The only tank we saw them driving on our visit was a Stuart. However, the weekend before they had a whole bunch of the tanks out and driving around shooting at each other. I would like to go back sometime when they have them out and in action again.
Bud Backer
I don’t live in Toronto but I definitely want to see this! I am in the area 1-2times a year, usually spring-autumn.
DerKommissar
I live like an hour away, and I've only just recently heard about this. You can ride in an M113 for 50 bucks? Tempting...
Bud Backer
I think I am planning to go there for Aquino Tank Weekend, June 8-9. They had artillery, tank battle renenactments, static displays, I think rides on armoured vehicles too. I think that is their big annual event so I want to see that. Maybe other CM enthusiasts might pick the that event as well?
Chudacabra
I would also be interested, but it seems like more of a summer museum. The Tank Weekend sounds great. The Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum in Hamilton is also worth visiting.

Haida docked in Hamilton and the Camp Borden Military Museum that has a outdoor Tank park. https://www.warplane.com/ https://www.pc.gc.ca/en/lhn-nhs/on/haida https://www.tripadvisor.ca/Attraction_Review-g4058671-d4057897-Reviews-Base_Borden_Military_Museum-Borden_Ontario.html
Bud Backer
I’ve been to the airplane museum in Hamilton. It was smaller than I expected but packed with good stuff. I would recommend the Canadian War Museum in Ottawa. It’s really good. Nice exhibits, and a rather good collection of armoured vehicles on display. Similarly, the Aviation museum in Ottawa is very good. Edited January 10, 2019 by Bud Backer Amusing but confusing typo
DerKommissar
Yeah, I visited the Warp Lane museum when I was a kid and absolutely loved it. Made the Avro Arrow my favourite plane. I've been to Camp Borden multiple times, and every year their collection got better. Lots of very rare hardware there. Including an old Churchill Mk. 1 (which my mum mistook for a WW1 tank, as did the Germans during Dieppe), a Grizzly, a Ram, a Wirbelwind -- even a WHIPPET! Oh, and that's just the tip of the iceberg. They even got a Pak 36(r), which puzzled me as a kid. It didn't really have the look of a German Pak, turns out its a converted Soviet F-22 that found its way to the Western Front and then here. Haven't been to those museums in Ottawa. Maybe the reason I always find Ottawa so dreadfully dull is because I go to all the wrong places.
Bud Backer
There are quite a few very nice museums in Ottawa, depending on your interests. History: https://www.historymuseum.ca/ Nature/Science: http://www.nature.ca/ Military: https://www.warmuseum.ca/ Art: https://www.gallery.ca/ Technology/Science: https://ingeniumcanada.org/cstm Aviation: https://ingeniumcanada.org/casm There are other, smaller ones, and also different ones in the greater Ottawa region (eg: James Naismith museum https://easternontario.cioc.ca/record/KGN3135 ) For those who don’t know, he invented Basketball).

That's by design. We prefer dull over traffic congestion!

Well, it’s a known fact that at 5pm they roll up the sidewalks as there is no one outside after that. But then, the city “theme song” is “Ottawa, you’ll always be around.” Yeessh. Gimme “Baby Shark” anyday! Edited January 11, 2019 by Bud Backer
