60mm Mortars Canada

Recommended Posts

Nyala carrying 60mm mortar guys of 'independent battegroup' comes with some extra 60mm acquireables, about dozen rounds.
LAV III carrying mortar crew doesn't though. And worse, the LAV-III mortar guys carry significantly fewer rounds than the 'independent battlegroup' light mortar guys. Possibly because the LAV-III mortar guys appear to be a split teams from an infantry squad. The two mortar teams in the Nyala appear to be from a dedicated mortar section.

Weird. We got rid of the 60's by the time I got to battalion, But I can tell you that at the time they were definitely not treated as adhoc as it appears to be in this. 60's were part of the infantry, even the 81's were until we gave them up to the artillery and they took our .50 cals and gave us an automatic grenade launcher I never saw, let alone used, my entire military career.

Short of it? We need some extra rounds in the vehicles. 18 60mm mortars per platoon is barely enough to harrass a machinegun.

Canadian 81mm mortar teams carry a whopping 100+ rounds if you include the nine packed away in the G-wagon. Purchase off-map 81mm (4 tubes) and you get 200 rounds HE. The two 60mm mortar teams tucked away in the Nyala (I think in the weapons platoon) carry about a 106 HE rounds all total, Its just inf platoon members designated to carry 60mm that get's short-changed. So don't forget your weapons platoon when picking QB forces.
