Simple thing. Ruskies put tilt-rod mines on backs of starving dogs trained to eat under AFVs. Idea was they'd blow up German tanks. However, in practice they didn't care who owned the AFV. Thus, they were phased out of the inventory fairly quickly.

ah but the regular army was not the ones who used these "dog explosives" it was the partisians, and thus behind enemy lines no real threat to the russian army. Thing about it was that come winter of 43' you couldn't have found a dog alive behind german lines smile.gif they were yum yum yummy
