John Kettler
"Subversives" Episode 1 is a fast paced documentary covering Russian subversive operations against Reichskommissar for the Reichskommissariat Ukraine Erich Koch and his henchmen. He was responsible for the economic exploitation of all German occupied Russia, to include slave labor. It has great historical re-enactment sequences, an array of real people, names, places, dates, maps, photos, chrome galore, some great footage of Russian armor (not best res, but probably unseen by most and of typical quality) and a deserved prominence of a guy named Sudoplatov running things from Moscow. As it happens, I know him as the author of Special Tasks. His handiwork includes organizing the tracking down and spectacular killing of Trotsky. Found this on YouTube while looking for Russian GPW shows with English subtitles. Amazon Prime is using Season 1 for a bunch of them to hook viewers into buying subsequent seasons. One of the outfits doing these and doing them well is StarMedia, and this impressive doc series is theirs.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQnLwhBaXWg Regards, John Kettler Edited May 2, 2018 by John Kettler
John Kettler
Episode 2 concerns the operation of diversionary units of the Northern Fleet, especially the rise and activities of young Viktor Leonov. He is, arguably, the father of whatever the Russian Navy calls its SpetsNaz force these days. His autobiography, Blood On the Shores, is a must read for any student of Spec Ops. Be advised, though, that because of the sweeping nature of activities represented, especially the purely on water events, there is CGI, and it's often not good. That said, absent a huge budget, it was never going to be phenomenal anyway, yet is essential to telling the overall story. Otherwise, this episode follows the same structure as did the first. John Kettler
Episode 3 is called "To Kill a Gauleiter" and concerns GRU and NKVD ops in Belarus. There's some pretty nasty stuff in there in terms of historical footage, so be advised accordingly. Didn't know much about what the Germans did in Belarus, and now I know--too much. Action covers period from Barbarossa through fall of 1944. Regards, John Kettler

John Kettler
Erwin, The series is free on YouTube. If you have Amazon Prime (or do the 30-day free trial), there is a wealth of Russian and Belarus produced GPW programming which is free on Prime.
