Barbed Wire

I noticed that all the newer titles have the fortification "Barbed Wire".  CMSF1 does not.  I think I've read all the posts on what BFC is including and not including in CMSF2 but what is the decision for something like barbed wire?  Just curious if it would be added as part of the 4.0 upgrade.  Has anybody read or seen something on the "Fortifications" topic that maybe I missed?

Can you give us any updates on the status of IEDs/VBIEDs and other UnCon goodies?  Is something resembling a suicide bomber likely to become a viable option?

Not sure what you are asking. If it is “do the features that were in CMSF still work?”  Then yes. If it is “have you added anything to enable me to do something totally new”, then probably not.

Do the Triggermen still take potshots at passers by (rather than blowing them to smithereens)? 

Is there any plan to make it possible to spot IEDs?

Has any consideration been given to VBIEDs more substantial than the taxi?

Is ECM now a factor for a wider variety of US/NATO vehicles when approaching IEDs, or is it still restricted to just one or two mostly UK types?

Do any Uncons get demolitions charges now (Uncon Breach Teams I guess)?

Do Uncons get access to MANPADS?

Well in a manner of speaking yes, but given the reorganisation of the TOE that is going to be necessary (presumably at any rate) they don't seem to be unreasonable questions?

With regard to the suicide bomber, if the exploding attribute of a VBIED could be transferred to the driver rather than the vehicle (perhaps at a reduced level if he dismounts, say a Medium rather than Huge IED effect), he could be used as a suicide bomber by deleting the car in the editor, while the car could be used as civilian traffic by deleting the bomber/driver and leaving the spy.

"If" means a new feature then probably no.  Changes in ToE have nothing to do with what you are asking.  Nice try (and yes it would be cool, but as many of us have been trying to say - keep your expectations closer to "It is CMSF in 4.0" not CMSF with your wish list).

Sure, I know that one was pushing it, but I thought it was a pretty decent idea so worth putting out there.  ;)

OTOH the questions regarding Triggermen, spotting IEDs, ECM, Breach Teams & MANPADS all seem perfectly reasonable given the Engine & TOE changes.

You know I think along the same lines, but insurgent warfare was never something BF wanted CMSF to be about.  That we have it at all is wildly cool, but nah I don't see them making much effort to look like 2017 Syria.

IEDS etc. do not currently exist in engine 4, so precisely how they are implemented is presumably still open to some degree of change?

ECM exists on British vehicles but not the other nationalities (even the Americans).....Surely you can't let that one pass?  :lol:

If 'Specialist Teams' (Breach/Scout/MANPAD etc.) are to be added to the TOE lists anyway (remember they do not currently exist) why shouldn't the UnCons have them too.....They surely use them and have done so for decades.

Then why did they include not one, but two varieties of UnCon in the game from the very start (& expand their capabilities in later modules).....Sorry fella your comments are rather nonsensical tonight.

well it doesn't help that you aren't listening.  No.  No.  No.  I can't say it any clearer than that, stop wishing BF will tune the game to make an insurgent warfare combat mission and you won't be disappointed.  Anything else is on you.

 The Specialist Teams & Single Vehicles that the BF team will have to create anyway won't be given Uncon skins.....Just because?  What exactly?

Are you sure TOE will be rewritten? That is where I am a little confused. I am not sure "CMSF in 4.0" means TOE are rewritten. And, if there are not rewritten blue side won't have air defense like in CMSF1. Only red side will have ZSU.

They'll be the same basic units but the structure will be different.  Presumably Specialist Teams and Single Vehicles will be added as they are in all the other games, so why not add them for the Uncons while you are at it?

Yes but you reading too much into 'rewritten'. They have to be rewritten in coding terms so that players can split off scout elements etc which cannot be done in CMSF currently. As others have said, CMSF 2 is pretty much CMSF in the new engine.

Feature creep baby. Nothing kills a project slower than "just add this one little thing, it's small" and "development is delayed, well that's OK we have time now to add this other little thing too then".

No more replies  I can not give you any more info than what I have and honestly I am a little tired of trying to keep your expectations in line.  You’ll just have to wait till either Steve replies or the game is released .  Perhaps he’ll visit this thread or the bone thread.
