Do not dismount when artillery is near...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B15S-x7FhyQ

The lone surviver, the driver, buddy aided the whole lot and ended up with 10 demo charges, binos, a MG42 and two panzerfausts. He could barely move afterwards.

Edit: couldn't embed.

WOW!!!!!!!!!  Do you know what the arty was?  I think the shell crater looked like a medium.  Surprised it caused so many casualties.  Bad luck I guess.

The buddy aid is interesting.  That is the most gear I've ever heard recovered by one troop.  Didn't even realize that much gear could be recovered.

Thanks for sharing.

I have never takes as many casualties from one arty shell, no matter what caliber. I suspect 120 mm at the most. Maybe my oppo @Bob Willett can chime in on this.

Before dismounting I debated with myself whether to do it or not, but thought that "the strike is about to end and I'm on the fringe". MAJOR regrets one minute later

Had a similar experience with a gung-ho Spy in CM:A who wound up running around with an RPK-74 and a selection of other hardware.

Yeah I have a love hate relationship with any off map support. Had squad wipes more times than I can count thanks to it.

I have had a lone British Tommy already weilding a Bren and quite a bit of ammo pick up a PIAT, rockets and extra grenades before. Could barely move as well. :) Ended up holding down a house all by himself against some German stragglers in the CMBN-CW "Colossal Crack" scenario.
