Darmok54
Has anyone here played Men of War? It looks similar to CM and I’m tempted by its low price on the Steam sale.
MG TOW
The original one? or the assault squads. No matter. Its been a while for me, but I didn't like them and never played them for very long. They look beautiful and have great special effects but the mission scripting really turned me off. The real time is off too and works against the player. Theatre of War, CM2, graviteam tactics are game that do real time OK, but Men of War always felt like I had to be super quick on the micro managing even with pauses. Shame, nice looking games, poor dynamic.
Bud Backer
I enjoyed them, but it’s a lot of micromanagement. Depends on what you like to do. I’d liken MOW to Company of Heroes. Fun, but not at all like CM for detail and realism.
General Jack Ripper
My abiding memory from Men of War was running out of ammo, and spending more time scrounging ammo and gear from dead bodies than actually playing the game.
danfrodo
I played MoW for years. It's fun but it gets kinda old as it becomes very click-driven. Ranges are completely unrealistic. I came to CM because I wanted a more realistic, historically based experience. MoW was fun, and you had to use at least somewhat realistic tactics. I would say get MoW for some fun, quick WW2-lite fun. Then get CM for the real thing. I only play CM for the last nearly 2 years. And have dozens and dozens of battles I haven't even gotten to yet.
