@Battlefront.com  I know there have been a lot of requests for new and improved features for the game engine, but would it be possible to give us a rough idea of what is possible and or likely by way of developments on this front?  Could the game handle a nominally neutral third side?  Is there a real possibility of persistent map damage? etc. etc.

Sure, I can give you an exact idea... we aren't expanding the game in any way from what you see in CMSF (content) and Engine 4 (game features).

We are considering some very limited, targeted revisions to a tiny handful of things in CMSF that were speculative at the time and we have since got more hard data.  Mostly it has to do with what the Syrian Army has for T-72 variants.

This is all very reassuring.

Partisans and expanded Italian OOB for CMFI on the horizon?

Not ruling it out, but we're not planning that far ahead in a way that is meaningful to you guys now.

@Battlefront.com

I had originally purchased a Paradox Interactive copy of CM:SF, ordered a boxed copy of the Marines expansion, and iirc ordered a digital copy of the British expansion. Would this setup still be allowed access to the discount, or is it limited to CM:SF copies from Battlefront? Or is this information that will be released at a later date?

Thank you

We sell the Paradox Upgrade and promised people who purchased it that they'd be treated just like all other CMSF customers.  That includes our plans for CMSF2 :D

Cheers for the reply, I wasn't thinking strictly in terms of CM:SF II, but was more interested in your longer term future plans for the game engine.

We don't like to announce feature stuff ahead of when we know we have 'em in the game.  Avoids expectations and potential disappointment when something doesn't work out like we planned.

It's a cool feature of the old CM1 games that never made it into CM2.....It would be awesome to get it back, especially for massive MOUT maps like @LongLeftFlank's Ramadi or @snake_eye's Donetsk Airport.  B)

Oh boy, wouldn't that be awesome!

It would also be nice if you could save the state of a map after any battle (not only in campaigns) to be able to re-use it later with all the damage. That way, you could have QB's with friends or tournaments that happen on the same battlefields.

I think that persistent map damage could expand the player base significantly, if it would be combined with campaigns or even H2H campaigns. That feature should also have a very positive effect to keep customers playing for a longer time.

And probably such a huge improvement to realism and gameplay could easily be priced at $20 minimum, too.

Getting this feature out should have a much better ROI than any module.

Hi ,

About QB, will SF2 include the unit purchase list like other cm2 games?

Which are absent in cm f1

Yes.  CMSF2 has all the same features as the other games.  Obviously there are some game specific features that aren't available, such as European terrain and housing, but the game code is identical.

You used to be able to do that in CM1 too.....The final turn save file of a battle could be opened as a QB map.

Persistent Map Damage really would add immersion to the already excellent campaign structure and it would save map makers enormous amounts of work (it would encourage them too as the 'Static Campaign' format would allow them to get maximum value from all their effort).  B)

A doubt about CMSF2 Steve. For the people who has SF1, will SF2 comes as a big update for them, or as a full new game?

What's a "static campaign?"

It's a campaign played out on just one (gradually deteriorating)  map.....Imagine a 'festerplatz' type scenario, or just think of the slow grind against ISIS in Iraq or Syria's bigger cities.

One example would be @Ithikial_AU's campaign "Lions of Carpiquet", which is excellent but the immersion is somewhat lost when houses reappear, craters disappear (a lot of them in this campaign). I would also like to see wrecks remain on map.
