Military type international analysis blogs

KL2004

Recommended Posts

There used to be a blog by an East Indian fellow, I can't remember his last name, the first was Ravi.  He was pretty knowledgeable and open to corrections.  Anything like that now?  I am not looking for a political blog.  Something that objectively evaluates and comments on the situations in the world from a technological and realistic sense.

Thanks

I'm guessing you are referring to Ravi Rikhye and this site:

http://www.orbat.info/

I wouldn't bother going there now - most of the site pages are dead or out of date.

Not all of these are blogs but here are some links:

KL2004,

Indian Defence Review

Just found it.

http://www.indiandefencereview.com

Air Power Australia

http://www.ausairpower.net

Don't let the title fool you, This is one of the meatiest defense sites on the internet and goes into hordes of important military technical matters.

China Policy Institute

This is a project of the University of Nottingham, UK. Example is an analysis of military moves China's making in the Indian Ocean. This one also turned up when I tried to find a different blog on the region.

https://cpianalysis.org/2017/08/30/chinas-indian-ocean-power-play/

Russian Defense Policy

https://russiandefpolicy.blog

If you have any interest at all in the Russian military, then this is a must.

Russian Military Analysis

https://russianmilitaryanalysis.wordpress.com

Brand new find. Has scads of ZAPAD 2017 coverage.

In Moscow's Shadows

https://inmoscowsshadows.wordpress.com

Found this one by following a link from the one immediately above. Though not primarily about defense, what it does have is very good. Also, it covers lots of other matters of interest, including active measures, interior troops, regime stability and more. The blogger, Mark Galeotti, is a former academic  and now heavy hitter think tank type who's written a bunch of books on Russian matters, including Russian security and organized crime, not to mention several Osprey books on the Russian military and a book on Russian hybrid warfare.

There will be more, but right now, I've got to post about a blockbuster discovery I just made!

Regards,

John Kettler
