John Kettler
This looks like an absolute must for anyone interested in the subject. Offhand, unless using, say, a company level document, I don't recall anything where it gets into the specific trades and duties. Rank and maybe weapon? Sure, but nothing like this. Would appear to put the "A" in "anal." Of course, the gap between authorized and actual rapidly became a canyon, but it alwys helps to have a baseline. Believe the material on the 79th AD (the "Funnies") would make engrossing reading. https://www.biblio.com/book/british-army-1939-1945-war-establishment/d/694461403 (Fair Use). Besides, this might help sell one! THE BRITISH ARMY 1939-1945 - WAR ESTABLISHMENT TABLES : NORTHWEST EUROPE 1944-45 , Vol. 6 - Infantry & Armoured Divisional & Tank Brigade Service Units by Kennedy, Gary 2007, Military Press, as new copy, paper covers, 8 1/4 x 11 1/2, viii, 154 pages.-------------------------- This series will examine in detail the authorized War Establishments of every unit that formed part of the British Infantry and Armoured Divisions of 21st Army Group, as well as the specialist Brigades of 79th Armoured Division and the Tank Brigades. Each table will list the composition of the relevant unit, giving a breakdown of personnel by ranks and trades and duties, as well as its transport and weapons. Additional notes will also be provided on known deviations from the official structures outlined and where appropriate the particular types of vehicles.
