John Kettler Posted June 19, 2017 Share Posted June 19, 2017 In reading a number of accounts by GPW participants, I've seen repeated references to a "son of the regiment." Typically a war orphan, such a little boy was informally adopted, cared for and fed by the soldiers. He was fitted with a miniature uniform, too. Here's a charming example.
