CanuckGamer
Sorry but I want to make sure I understand the procedure before I do anything. I have a file folder called "User Data". Inside this folder is another file folder called "Mods". There are actually four Bitmap image files for Canadian uniform, officer and vehicle which I didn't know were there. I suspect they were installed when I installed one of Kohlenklau's Canadian scenarios that he generously provided me. So I should create a new folder in the Mods folder and then extract the horizons mod in to that folder, correct? Thanks again to everyone for the comments and help.
Mord
You could just drop them in mod folder, or make another folder called "Horizons" inside the mod folder, or whatever you like. I keep stuff like terrain all in one folder, explosions/smoke/tracers in one folder, US stuff in one folder, German/Russian/British/Whatever in a folder—keeps it tidy and I know where each thing is if I want to switch them out. There's nothing to fear, the stuff you put in there will not permanently overwrite your game files (like in CMX1). The folder only works when you start CMFI. It loads the various modded bmps/wavs/whatever in there last, only temporarily overwriting original game files when you fire up the program. When you log out of CMFI it all goes back to normal. Once you remove a mod completely out of the user data folder the game just reverts back to reading the base game files. It's idiot proof. Which is a good thing because man, you could really screw up the look of your game modding the old CMs, if you weren't careful. CanuckGamer
I installed the horizons mod by Aris and checked out a replay from the scenario I am currently playing by PBEM, In For A Pound. There were "waves" moving from right to left on the ground during the replay almost like what you would expect if there were smoke moving quickly. Anyone know what might be causing this? Other than that the horizon and sky looks great.
Mord
Yep. It's the clouds. Delete all the cloud files. I have had that as well. Drove me nuts until I figured out what it was. Mord. Edited November 9, 2017 by Mord
CanuckGamer
Thanks, I deleted the two cloud files and that fixed it. I loaded a number of scenarios and noticed that the new horizon did not load for all of them. Must be for the smaller maps only.
Mord
July starts in Sicily. The background changes in October 43, December 43 (snow), and April 44 (green). The scenarios where you aren't seeing the mod are set before them. PM if you need anymore help. Mord. P.S. Apologies for us derailing the thread!
