mike_in_texas
I played a scenario in which many of my vehicles ended up bogging in muddy terrain, and I was wondering if vehicle speed has any impact on the chances of a vehicle bogging and ultimately becoming immobilized. For example, has anyone noticed vehicles travelling faster/slower tend to bog more or less? Thanks! Mike
db_zero
In my experience speed matters. Move command is safest. Quick is less safe and fast will get your vehicles bogged quickly-at least that's what I've found to be true but don't take my word as the final word. Some terrain like vineyards that you encounter in Fortress Italy will completely immobilize vechicles no matter what speed. That's what I discovered. Don't know if that's changed and so far in my limited Final Battle experience I've yet to encounter that sort of terrain but who knows it may exist
c3k
Someone (sorry), did a GREAT job making a spreadsheet somewhere about this using some of the terrain. Does that help? Ken
Vanir Ausf B
Speed makes little or no difference.

So there's a number of individuals to choose from
c3k
Well, I didn't want to highlight IanL's shortcomings...
Vanir Ausf B
Thanks, @BletchleyGeek Ian and I have both tested this same question. This was from before I was even a beta tester. Edited March 28, 2017 by Vanir Ausf B
mike_in_texas
Ok, thanks, everyone. Sounds like speed doesn't necessarily matter. I was wondering if Battlefront thought about the physics behind this as well. For example, factoring in momentum, degree of muddiness, etc. Mike
A Canadian Cat
My tests were way back before I was a tester too. Ironically it started out with me trying to see if there was something wrong with the bogging rate and setting up various test terrains etc. I came up empty of problems but someone on the testing team did tweak to what was actually wrong - there was a problem with bogging at a road terrain boundary. Long ago fixed. As for the way bogging is handled the type of terrain, the ground conditons and how long it has beed rained on are factors. Along with the characteristics of the vehicle. Given that the speed is not a factor I do not believe that momentum is included. On the other hand I don't have special knowledge of the code.
db_zero
There you have it. Guess old habits die hard from CM1 days. I could be racing around the map at full speed and not worry anymore.
A Canadian Cat
LOL sounds like a plan. Or we can restrict ourselves and lower our speeds. Just a warning though, no one else will.
Sgt.Squarehead
Will we see Ostketten/Winterketten & Duckbills in future iterations I wonder and will they work as they should? Edited March 28, 2017 by Sgt.Squarehead
