CMBS Winter Mod

Recommended Posts

There are standard installation programs you can download that will build an installation exe for you.

I'm very interested on the winter mod.

Ive bits and pieces of an Autumn mid in WIP, it would be really cool to fight a campaign from Summer (default) through autumn and into winter!

Question: is this mod is still a thing?

Would anyone be interested in Winter Vehicles/Infantry mods?

As far as I know we still don’t have official Winter campaign for CMBS and CMRT so I guess it’s still a thing ;)

@kinophile & @dragonwynn

There were many Winter additions by numerous modders (I will miss someone if try to name all) from gui icons, textures, sounds, buildings, uniforms, vehicles to scenarios and campaigns.

Those are real fruits of Winter mod and even if I know that CM users prefer to personalise their experience, I'm always in for any kind of compilation and easy of use for players.

Could someone reupload the "Winter Mod terrain and shaders Pack" (the dropbox link is not working anymore) for those of us who arrive late to the party.

I updated dropbox links.
Those 2 mods are essential for “winterising” Combat Mission although I haven’t checked does everything still works in engine v4.

Kinophile, i would be helpfull if you would say how he helped you with your problem?
I assume there are more people including me, who are not able to get this to work.

I have the same problem as you, i made a Z folder, i made sure that the mod is loaded last, i put the snow.txt files in scenarios folder.

No joy.

I tried moving the mod to mods in my documents, still, no joy.

Not sure what i am doing wrong, and i have to say it is a tad frustrating.

I hope this forum thread is still alive, if so, would anyone be kind enough to help me out?

Thank you!

You need to open the scenario editor, load a battle and in the drop down menu on the left side, under mission, click on the mod tags button at the bottom of the list.

Then click on import and load the text file that includes the mod tags you want, in this case snow.txt. Don't forget to save.

That's all.

Alternatively, you could just rename every single file in the winter mod and remove the tag at the end like so :

ground brush [snow].bmp    ----->  ground brush].bmp

And just swap it in and out or your mod folder according to your needs.

A little late to the party here but in light of recent events I am very interested in downloading this MOD. I followed all the instructions but cannot get it to work.

1. Are there pre-requisite mods and/or games you must have before this one?

2. I assume you know this MOD has worked when you go into scenario editor and under data change the weather, temp and ground all to the snow settings which originally show up but are not accessible.

I hope this post is still active as I very much want to use this MOD.

One aspect I like a lot about winter in other Combat Mission games is that the trees and other foliage are bare which increases line of sight.

Does this mod address line of sight in foliage or is it purely cosmetic?

Either way I love this work and will be using it a lot!

thanks

andrew

BFC's seasonal foilage is also purely cosmetic, LOS does not change between a BFC Summer or a BFC Winter.

You learn something new everyday!

I noticed that the flat roof link is deleted. Is there an active one still out there? I know this is an old thread.

I know they've been added to the CMBS '2022 All in One' snowy option.

Here are the flat roofs specifically...
