ALLIED HQ/AAR CMPzC Operation Nyakleves

How does air power work? Do we just specify their missions and away we go?
Can air power be attacked by enemy air power (ala air superiority)?

Here's what I'm thinking regarding our aerial assets:

If our recon squadron doesn't need an escort, I'd say send 'em up the map and see what's beyond.

Can we order this recon mission before specifying the moves for our ground forces?

If yes for both above questions, then get them in the air! :)

189th Gds Assault Aviation can hit Migojo proper (using intel gathered by Snols night action to make it even more effective!).

136th and 569th hit the assault guns.

724th and 783rd hit the 2 enemy recon units we can see.

I'd prefer to do the ground attacks as a separate, softening up exersize (air strike at dawn!) rather than have them in direct support of our ground forces - I've seen way too many mistaken ground attacks to trust the flyboys.

I will start outlining plans for our ground forces shortly.

Calling Comrade Podpolkovnik Snols, do you read over? B)

We need intelligence reports on the enemy disposition in the town of Mogojo, including general layout of trench features.

Also enemy composition, particularly any support such as anti tank guns you may come across.

Over and out. -_-

The air availability is per the schedule in the block. Squint in close! The time listed is when it is first available. So nothing for your 0600 turn.

So, for turn 2, tell me the hex you want assaulted or recon to focus on. All air can get interdicted or hit by enemy AA Flak guns. Both sides.

Chased away or shot down or just mission is less effective.

Ah! I see. My eyes were drawn straight to "Assault Aviation"! :)

Thank the Generál Ármii for the additional help.

Hmm, I'm concerned about the location of the HQ and batteries.

We can't spare adequate protection for them, and while we're busy going up the map, they will be extremely vulnerable.

Is it possible to request that they start the setup in the far left corner and the one to the right of that (rough)?

It would kinda make sense, since they look like they are all travelling up the road hexes in convoy. :)

I'd like to make an initial move with the cavalry recon if I may - west ('up' the map - 4,6?) 3 hexes to the rough ground, to see what they can see. Did you say visibility is currently 5 hexes?

Thanks very much kohlenklau!

I had a peek at the battle raging in Migojo. Axis entrenched all over the place, firing from ambush positions. Snols men are fighting hard.

Submachinegun fire everywhere, grenades flying, artillery sounding overhead.

Some of Snols scout teams have been ambushed and gunned down, but the sapper's return fire is taking a toll as well.

Snols, hope you don't mind me posting these screenshots. Your flamethrowers lighting up the night were too good to resist.

Looks like the sappers CAN "hit the side of a barn". The Axis team inside is in grave peril.

Turn 1A will start soon and so now I am introducing a system that is used often out there with boardgames and such.

Action Cards!

"Random Action Cards"

These will be a set of cards for the 2 sides of various things that can occur to spin your world to the smile or the frown. Each side will randomly get one at the start of each side's phase. Some may be useful and some may go unused for that phase. such is life.

I got some of these from somebody and can't remember who it was to thank.

Some I have made up myself like this very first one.

Comerades!

As you know, last night our two sappers companies conducted reconnaissance in city of Migoyo. We achieved partial success of the task! Our brave soldiers encountered  perfectly prepared and camouflaged defesive positions around whole city and fortified buildings inside town.

Despite initial success - mainly in the area of operations of the 1st CO, fascists quickly recover from the initial surprise and systematically repel attempts to break through their defense line. Seeing the growing losses among our soldiers I ordered immediate withdraw.

I estimate enemy forces at about two companies of infantry supported by 2-3 HMG and one 75mm Inf gun. We did not discover any signs of enemy armoured vehicles.

Our losses are at around 50% of output states - i don't have full report yet.

I estimate enemy loses at about an platoon.

I screwed up. I hurried too much and have to much casualities, Especially in 2nd Co. Long FOW tricked me, but that does not excuse me, I forgot that it's night and my troops need few more time to spot. I'm ashamed and have remorse abut my lost fellow comerades. I think some vodka my help...

Don't worry Snols, just a warm up match. A tough assignment too Snols. You will have the opportunity to fight again.

Comrades, a couple more battles coming up soon. We will be attacking into the town of Migojo and attacking the woods to the west.

I need 2 heroic volunteers to lead our men to victory!

OK with Concord?

Snols: forest assault with T-34/76C, Penal Company and Starshina leader unit.

Pallebahtep: Migojo assault with T-34/85 and rifle regiment.

Battles are on beautiful custom maps by Concord and I am writing the battle up. It should be ready in a day or 2.

Tonight I can share you a dropbox download link to see the map without any units for your battlefield recon.

When the battle is finally ready, I will set it all up and enter the team universal passwords. I will get your e-mail address and invite you to share a dropbox.

I will send the password by PM.
