      Special Upgrade 4 Tech Tips   12/27/2016

      Hi all! Now that Upgrade 4 is out and about in large quantities we have now discovered a few SNAFUs that happen out in the scary, real world that is home computing.  Fortunately the rate of problems is extremely small and so far most are easily worked around.  We've identified a few issues that have similar causes which we have clear instructions for work arounds here they are: 1.  CMRT Windows customers need to re-license their original key.  This is a result of improvements to the licensing system which CMBN, CMBS, and CMFB are already using.  To do this launch CMRT with the Upgrade and the first time enter your Engine 4 key.  Exit and then use the "Activate New Products" shortcut in your CMRT folder, then enter your Engine 3 license key.  That should do the trick. 2.  CMRT and CMBN MacOS customers have a similar situation as #2, however the "Activate New Products" is inside the Documents folder in their respective CM folders.  For CMBN you have to go through the process described above for each of your license keys.  There is no special order to follow. 3.  For CMBS and CMFB customers, you need to use the Activate New Products shortcut and enter your Upgrade 4 key.  If you launch the game and see a screen that says "LICENSE FAILURE: Base Game 4.0 is required." that is an indication you haven't yet gone through that procedure.  Provided you had a properly functioning copy before installing the Upgrade, that should be all you need to do.  If in the future you have to install from scratch on a new system you'll need to do the same procedure for both your original license key and your Upgrade 4.0 key. 4.  There's always a weird one and here it is.  A few Windows users are not getting "Activate New Products" shortcuts created during installation.  Apparently anti-virus software is preventing the installer from doing its job.  This might not be a problem right now, but it will prove to be an issue at some point in the future.  The solution is to create your own shortcut using the following steps: Disable your anti-virus software before you do anything. Go to your Desktop, right click on the Desktop itself, select NEW->SHORTCUT, use BROWSE to locate the CM EXE that you are trying to fix. The location is then written out. After it type in a single space and then paste this:

      -showui

      Click NEXT and give your new Shortcut a name (doesn't matter what). Confirm that and you're done. Double click on the new Shortcut and you should be prompted to license whatever it is you need to license. At this time we have not identified any issues that have not been worked around.  Let's hope it stays that way Steve

I know one somebody was making one but because of a lack of any update I assumed the project was scrapped.So I was wondering if anyone else planned on making one

i have 2 difrend version on it , first had to figure out how to uppload it to repository. any way i used google map to make it sou there are some thing like elevation and some minor things are not 100% correct. It is then only map , im not yet buildet scenario on it.

I have been working on a Donetz map for a while. It is a huge work being 2400 x 3800 meters. Since the amount of woods and houses might be too heavy for normal computers, the size might have to be reduced. I have not decided yet if it has to be done. Anyway it far from being finished being still a WIP map.

 

The following pictures are shoiwing the airport runways, traffic contro tower and the terminal. All have been damaged. The final picture is showing tghe outskirts of Donetz not far away from the airport, right after the raitracks.

 

I might release a smaller scenario dealing with the combat around and in the airport before the larger one I would like to do,

wery nice work , i maked terminal area litle bit simple than that. Repository have some problem whit my map file and sadly i dont have drop box .

I might be mistaken but to upload a scenario and or a map in the Black Sea Repository you only use it and in no way Dropbox. You just upload the file from your PC.

when i tryed to uppload it to repository , it complained about file name ending .btt and stoped upploading.

you must use RAR to reduce your file size and or Winzip.

Sure 2 sizes will be done. The smaller one for a tactical fight within the airport vicinity and an assault or a defence battle with some AFV's and tanks for the second bigger one.

I shall post a close up view of the airport today showing more details.

ahaa ok , thanks for that info. Dam i dont know do i want ewen uppload it now because my version for this map look crapy now :D
 

 

ok guys now my version of this map should be findet on repository, sou if you want make own mission to it or play whit frend , have fun then.

plus i recomendet you use kiemes building mod , because other way some buildings look weird and are not correct.

Thanks. Yeah it is a huge "little work". I am working once more on the ground curve altitude, being not so satisfied with some of them. Even when they are set rightly they don't necessarily give a good effect to my player's eyes. Sometimes, you really have to get away from the real altitude in order to have the map look better.

As soon as this is done, I shall work on a small tactical scenario about the fight at the airport. After having done it a scenario using the original size of the map will be done.

Hullo Guys,

 

Looking at the map curves it looks like the airport is very vulnerable from troops coming from the North. The highest points are there and the only equivalent is the traffic control tower. No wonder the Separatists shelled it as much as they could to denied the Ukrainian an excellent OP. I would guess that the Separatists infiltrated the airport from the south, since it is full of small roads and small houses with their small gardens dissiminated all around. It should provide a tough urban fight, since the engagement distances should be rather short within that area.

Let me know if I am right or wrong, Since the first scenario will take in account these altitude points and that dense south area.

The map WIP, goes on slowly but methodically. The road network takes a long time and the multitude of small houses with their vegetables gardens in the vicinity of the airport as well.

Another problem which has had to be settled was the curves heights. Whether they were from Google earth overlays and or from maps the 3D view is not always what we figure it should be. So, some heights have to be corrected in order to have a better ground rendering.

Another preoccupation is the amount of the graphics. They might due the map size put to their knees some graphic cards. All of these potentials problems are right now taken in account.

I am confident that the ending will be that of a playable battle.

I shall post soon, some new pictures of the Airport Terminal and of its small rural vicinity, since many things have been changed in that area where fierce fights were fought.

Remember that the steeper the elevation between two closer points the more stress the terrain rendering will cause to the system. So a gentle slope can save you a lot of power.

That's correct. When the slope is steeper it also has an adverse effect on the 3D view. The slope does not fit so well with the surrounding grounds. You must try different height spot in order to make it look better.
