Sgt.Squarehead
"Gunner, cease-fire you fool.....You are shooting completely the wrong way!" PS - This has got me wondering.....Are target bearings in a tank given relative to its heading? I'm having doubts now. LancerOne
Whoops, My bad! I assumed target bearings could be made with reference to compass directions - regardless of hull orientation. I really wonder, though. What is the proper usage, though?
Sgt.Squarehead
Me too now dude.....Tankists? Can we get a definitive answer please?
Splinty
The US uses clock positions with 12 O'Clock always being direct front of the vehicle.
Sgt.Squarehead
That certainly avoids confusion.....Cheers. PS - Does something in the commander's optic make this calculation for him, compensating both for the rotation of the turret and the rotation of his cupola? LancerOne
Good to know, Thanks!
Splinty
In the M2A2 version of the Bradley there was an illuminated dial with an arrow that would point in the direction the turret was facing. The dial itself was an outline of a Brad with the various clock positions indicated by number. The arrow would light up over the appropriate clock position. I can't speak for other US armor except by very faulty old man's memory from the times I worked with tankers. I believe they had the same indicator.

Great screenshot too!
Bozowans
A fierce close range firefight erupts between Russian soldiers and a Ukrainian HQ team. Suddenly, a shell from an overwatching T-90 detonates over the heads of the Ukrainians, killing one of them instantly. The other man managed to fall back, but didn't make it far before another shell detonated over him, killing him as well. Those tanks are nasty.

Chudacabra
From a quick battle of crummy Ukrainians vs. crummy Ukrainians. No Oplots, drones or APS here. Paying extra for Bulats seems to have been worth it. Mechwar '77! These forces are making me really look forward to Red on Red battles in CMSFII. Smokey/fiery Bulats. Opposing forces. I destroyed four T-64's and two BTR-70's for the loss of three Bulats. The next turn should be interesting.
