Some of you may know about Oryx Blog, but I'm betting many of you don't. This site is grog central for Syria, ISIS and a bunch of places when it comes to armor and air power. I'm not sure where this guy gets his info from, but man, is it impressive--especially the pics. It's really too bad there isn't a way to add physical objects to the armor models proper, for the field mods in use are pretty astounding and would really open up some eyes were they built for an IPMS model competition. The pics amount to a master class in how grubby and worn a combat vehicle gets from operating in a harsh desert and urban environment. I think the wealth of info opens up all sorts of new scenario possibilities, too. Recently, the Syrians brought their ATGM vehicles out of storage and into the fight, considerably adding to unit firepower by providing the means to provide immediate precision response if the owning unit draws rebel fire from a town or village. This makes it hard to operate artillery and armor, since the ATGMs are highly effective against them. Lots of good articles, including the Syrian BM-30, tracked jammers and two parts on the TURMS-T.

Thanks for sharing, some of those field modifications are really strange!

The conduction line seems to be the search for additional protection against RPGs, one even has a double layer of spaced armor.

Concerning the game, problem is that such improvised solutions are all different from each other, and the amount of modelling required to make, let's say 5 versions of them, is much probably equal to the amount of time needed to model an entire new vehicle. Moreover, the quality and efficiency of these improvised solutions is all to be estimated, not to mention the durability in the field.
