CMBB CMAK Bmps no show

Hi, CMBB 103.SE CD running on Win 7 Ult. GeForce GTX 670, and noticed that every other bmp shows up. In the editor I place tall pines, forest, scatter trees, on preview only Bmp 500, 502, 511, 512, 513, 514,  no snow pine trees and only doodads 2170, 2110, 2120, 2250, no small bridge, only medium and heavy bridges shows up. Every other building (does not matter which kind it is). Grass and all terrain bases, roads, walls, hedges, rocks all show. If I rename Bmp 500 to 501 the 501 shows not the 500.  Reinstalled still no show. CMAK is like the opposite the grass textures shows up black, but trees do-dads all show up.  I had no problems on my other computer with Win XP. Could the 104 patch fix this? Thanks

I don't specifically think that the 1.04 patch would fix this, but you may want to download the current 'demo' of CMBB and CMAK and see if they behave differently from your current 1.03 installs. The 1.04 patch basically changed a certain DirectX call that the games made and used and updated version (to my knowledge), which fixed some issues that users with Windows Vista and DirectX 10 capable video cards were running into. It also fixed (much later, inadvertently) an issue that Radeon users were running into (I can't recall the specifics at the moment).

For CMBB you need to install EACH patch and not just the last patch (1.01, 1.02 and 1.03). For CMAK I believe just the last patch is necessary (1.03).

Which driver are you running for your GTX 670 ? Do you know what your 3D settings are in the Nvidia Control Panel (not that I'm aware of specific ones that may cause problems) ? You may want to mess around with any anti-aliasing settings (disabling them) to see if that may help.

Hi,

I patched to 1.04 and it did not do anything.  I have the SE 1.03 CD so no patching, right?  Drivers are 344.11 tried rolling back all the way to 234. Nothing changed.  I tried all the DX9 installs, res-fixes, and just about anything else I could find online.  As far as the Nvidia Control Panel goes I turned on all then all off then, I walked through the whole line turning on and off each setting.  You know if I use this on my old XP machine all works fine, so I wonder if or how many users this is happening to? Some might not see the difference, like 2 out of 4 kinds of pine trees or 3 out of 7 trees, one out of two bushes  displaying,  when playing the game. This isn't a game breaker, just a eye-candy take away so, if you have any other ideas I would like to try them.

Again Thank you.

sturbs,

If you haven't done so, then install each game on your Win 7 Ult Desktop ( not Progam Files ).

-or- copy and paste the BMP files from your Win XP to Win 7 Ult ( replacing the BMP files in your program files )...might also try deleting Win 7 Ult BMP's first before replacing with Win XP BMP's if that makes any difference.

I'm hoping one of these options will work for you.

I do, however, have CMBB & CMAK installed on Win 7 64bit Home Premium in Program Files (x86) without any BMP issues.

  • Hi JoMc67
  • I have copied and pasted the BMP files from XP to Win 7. In fact I have copied the whole game and transferred it from XP to Win 7.  I have tried running off a flash drive same results.  I am not sure about install to the desktop, maybe you could explain this to me.  The games are installed on a separate hard drive - F:\Games,  not in C:\Program files.  I was under the impression you should not install any games in C:\Program Files (x86).  Some reasons I've been told, it eats up a lot of your hard drive, and its hard to update. But hey I am a carpenter not a computer man. I could build you a house but not a computer.

  • I'm curious, have you taken any of the BMPs, say all the Trees, and change the pink background to any other color to see what BMPs are actually running?
  •
  • Also what Graphic Card are you using?  If its Nvidia what is your 3D settings in the Nvidia Control Panel? My Old Windows XP has a Nvidia 5700 LE Card.  I don't know if my GTX 670 is to new of a card to run this, or if it is the Window 7Ult. with all that Direct X business.

If you can, reinstall Win 7 using a Reinstall Disk and reinstall all your programs including BB & AK since it's possible you have a Windows issue or possible Virus ?

No, I haven't had any issues and no need to change out BMP's.

I have had a older Dell D810 laptop, Win XP, ATI X600 128mb Vid, Dell D830 laptop, Win XP, Nvidia NV140 256mb vid, Dell Optiplex 755 desktop, Core2 Quad, Win 7 Home, ATI 7700 1GB vid...I pretty much just use the standard video settings and no issues running CMx1 on all rigs ( running CMx2 on the Dell Optiplex ).

However, my newer Dell Precision M440, Win 7 Pro, Core2 Duo, Quadro FX770 512mb video, and getting a choppy frate-rate running BB & AK, and the video card specs are much better then all my previous laptops ( but runs CMx2 fairly well ). So, in my case, its' either a Quadro video issue with older Direct X or A Win 7 Pro issue...Until I figure it out, I will be using my older D830 Laptop to run CMx1.
