John Kettler
Akula (Shark) a pioneering Russian sub built before WW I under the Tsar and lost on a combat cruise in the Baltic Sea in 1915, cause unknown, has now been found. Am sure we have some sub buffs out there. http://io9.com/divers-discover-vanished-wwi-era-russian-shark-submarin-1598562330 If you need something bigger and more modern, will the huge Japanese marvel the I-400 do? http://io9.com/a-sunken-wwii-era-japanese-mega-sub-has-been-found-near-1476547044 Regards, John Kettler

It's been many decades since I read a book by the guy in charge of the sub during the tow (it was one chapter of his book IIRC). As I recall, the sub was a leaky piece of [crud] and barely made it there, even under tow. And he implied it was more of a danger to the crew than to the USN.
