A World War 2 Tiger 131 tank - thought to be the last one in working order - is being loaned to the makers of the latest Brad Pitt film.

The star has been shooting scenes for the action movie Fury around the village of Shirburn in Oxfordshire.

The German tank was restored by experts at the Tank Museum in Bovington, Dorset, where it is usually on display.

Museum director Richard Smith said it was "one of the the most feared weapons unleashed by the Nazis".

He said it had a "formidable reputation and could destroy an enemy tank from over 2km away".

Curator David Willey said: "The Tiger was restored so that the public could fully appreciate what a truly fearsome machine it would have been during battle.

"Now for the first time countless numbers of people will have the opportunity to see a genuine Tiger in a contemporary war film."

Remembrance apology

He described it as "a unique piece of military heritage" and said its time on set would be "carefully managed and overseen by a group of museum workshop staff".

Another tank from the Bovington museum, its Sherman M4E8, also features in the film.

First 70% was an absolute game, gave it 10 of 10.

Last 30% of movie was a joke, that part got 2 of 10.

Enjoyed the movie thoroughly until the 'crossroad', and then it just got tactically silly.

Still I'm planning to add it to the collection when it comes out on Blu Ray. =)

You mean like in the trailer?

Moving in from like 500 meters to attack a bunch of Shermans at point blank range is probably the stupidest thing any Tiger commander could have done.

Is it still worth watching it?

SPOILER ALERT (?)

The last  30% referred to includes a veteran SS-unit (company ?)  storming a lone immobilized, seemingly abandonet tank with full strength instead of bypassing it.

Is it still worth watching it?

Typical Hollywood production. Emotional scenes timed in with a stopwatch. Tactics photogenic and thrilling rather than realistic. Mandatory and rather superfluous chick-flick scene vowen into the storyline about half-way through the movie to keep the prospective female audience semi-interested. Mandatory war-is-hell and ambiguous attrocity scenes. Still, all in all it is a decent war movie. One to add to the dvd-collection once released.
