CMFI vs CMAK vehicle comparison list

Hello all,

Mord did a list like this for CMBN and its Commonwealth Module. Now that Gustav Line is coming out, I thought it would be interesting to take up the torch and make this list for CMFI and the vehicles listed so far for Gustav Line. The CMAK list comes from a spreadsheet some one made of CMAK vehicles in Italy and their availability dates. I went up to May 1944.

I listed the M4a3 Sherman and M7b1 Priest as possibly being included in Gustav Line as Battlefront may not have listed newer variants of vehicles already included in CMFI. More research has also been done since CMAK and vehicles that were not in Italy during the time period may now have been excluded, but here they all are for discussion. Up next: the Commonwealth.

Again, it quite possible that we will get early versions of the Shermans that Battlefront just didn't list, not to mention more Universal Carrier variants and Jeeps with different MG types.

And again, the types not listed for CMFI may not have been in Italy after all.

This is IMO one of the benefits of the new CMx2 system that focuses on operations or major battles (3-4 month time frames) Generally it looks like we're getting more stuff than we had in CMAK, even though CMAK covered a drastically larger period of time. The only spot that's iffy is the CW equipment, and I'm sure a couple of modules will change that.

Btw wouldn't MMG carrier be included? Isn't that just a bren carrier; and don't we already have them in CMBN? If so I see no reason why not in Gustav?

The German list of vehicles in CMAK but not listed at this time for CMFI (and possibly available before June '44 ) is more extensive. I'm almost certain, however, that some of the early German AFVs mentioned for CMAK never existed in Italy. I also assume Battlefront may not have listed every variation of StuG and Panzer V we will be getting yet. Also it could be there were not enough Brummbars in Italy for there to even be early mid and late variants. As for captured Italian vehicles, I don't have any knowledge.

These are not the same thing.

-You've got T30 HMC on the included and not included lists.

-"early" and "mid" versions of the M8 AC are in.

-M4A1 mortar carrier is in.

-M3 GMC ("tank destroyer halftrack") = 75mm SP Autocar

-MMG Carrier is in GL (universal carrier with Vickers MMG).

Will have to double check on the tanks later.

Off the top of my head July or August '44, I believe. Churchill 75NA is rather like CMBN Sherman Jumbo. Every intention of putting it into the game but those pesky historical facts got in the way.

I'm sure there's other vehicles like it that CMAK had available in the timeframe. I really doubt the PzJg I and the different types of Pz IIs (except possibly the Lynx) ever fought in Italy, nor did some of the earlier types of Pz IIIs and IVs. I'm confident the research for CMFI etc is better than what CMAK had, if for no other reason than having much less time and area to cover. But more than that, I think Battlefront has accumulated more Grogs in their "stable" of beta testers if I can call it that.

Either Steve or Normal Dude told us most of the better Italian Armor and loaned German AFVs were lost in Tunisia or kept on the Mainland and never fought in Sicily or for Fascist Italy on the Boot itself, which probably covers the "missing" Italian vehicles.

This module does not encompass post-surrender Italian forces.

Hmm, I was just going through the scenario editor, and I can't actually find the Caro Comando M41 and M42, though they were mentioned in the Basegame preview list of vehicles. Did they not make the final cut or am I totally overlooking them in the editor?

They are present, they just aren't in the Individual Vehicles list.
