Fighting the Italians?

Recommended Posts

I'd expect in a following module Italian TO&E would become abruptly unavailable Sept 8, 1943. In compensation I'd also expect to see Semovente 75s, AB41 AC, etc. to fall into German hands. Italian weapons continued manufacture after the surrender, just not for the Italians. There sere some variant the italians themselves never got to use!

The Italians surrendered on the morning of the invasion at Salerno. There was some very light - and confused - fighting against the Allied forces there, and a little more against 8th Army's earlier invasion at Calabria, but nothing very significant.

The Germans probably saw more combat against the Italians as part of their Operation ASCHE, in Italy, Sardinia, Yugoslavia, and various Greek islands.

After the surrender both sides - Axis and Allied - re-raised Italian armed forces, though I don't think they saw much action before late 1944.

CMSF has civilian 'fighters' (you can build creepily present-day 'cut from the headlines' civilian vs Syrian army scenarios). I would like nothing better than to see Free French resistance in CMBN with their smuggled-in Sten guns, and Italian Resistenza partigiana doing resistance fighting against German forces in 1944. Imagine the comments of some people if the Communist Garibaldi Brigades and socialist Matteotti Brigades were included among the allies! TO&E structure sounds near impossible to get historically correct, though. :)
