Steiner14
With the coming graphical changes with v2 (shaders, bump mapping) im wondering if these changes can be seen as preparation to use the better capabilities of newer OpenGL versions?
shocker28
Also was wondering if the new bump mapping will get rid of that wood grain effect you see on plowed fields.
Vanir Ausf B
I vaguely remember reading that the bump and normal mapping is only being applied to units, not terrain.
Battlefront.com
Reengineering CM for a newer OpenGL standard is probably a decent chunk of work. We'd only divert our energies from game improvements if we felt the outcome was worth the sacrifice. Honestly, I don't know one way or another what it would take to do it. I do know there are more graphics improvements we can do without such a major recoding effort, so for sure we're going to do those. It's applied to some terrain, but not much. The VRAM and speed hit were found to be unacceptable. Steve
