But, if they see an opening they are likely to be just as aggressive as their Chinese friends. The RN took a beating but is staying on station. Singapore is building a strong defense. China is looking for weak Japanese formations… can’t kill them, but can slow them down. Not sure where to go with research, but reinforcements are in the queue. This turn, Aug 40 (i think): Japanese start attacking. Screen shot of the beginning of the offensive. I can see Caverrt put some money in Chinese air as I get 4 intercepts. The With motorization and level 2 inf. weapons the Japanese will be tough to stop now. In Europe, The RN attacks a Bomber in Denmark, almost kill it. I counter attack with air and a sub, knocking a BB down to 3. Interesting to see if the British hang around for another round. Quiet in the Med. Italy fixing Navy. Having units in queue would allow you respond instantly to attack from any dirrection, and keep you from getting boxed in, but units in the queue don't defend or dig in either... They will force you to watch those areas around a city where a bunch of the enemy could magically appear and cut off your forward deployed units. China, the Japanese, armed with their trucks are breaking through in the north. Carverrt has done a good job at damaging Japanese armies, but I have so many, I just retreat the injured ones and toss in another. The Italians are quiet in the Mediterranean and so are the Brits. The Japanese have broken through. Queue reserves are deployed. In China, Japanese troops in the outskirts of Sian and Lanchow. Forgot to mention last turn Indochina was captured. I have to wonder if China is going to be in the same mess, just at a later date. Yes the changes have helped, but with a couple chits in motorization and normal results (no early hit), I still got things going pretty quickly. It rRemains to be seen if the Chinese will toughen up from here as units from the queue enter. Japanese pouring into China everywhere. Germans take out Sweden, but pay a heavy price in USA and Finnish diplomacy. USA is now at 38%. I must be more careful. The diplomatic hit is considerable - USA in the 40's now. Japanese whittle away at the Chinese, no units killed. China appears to have a deep defense, nice job there. Again you'll need air defense, but tanks are the king in SC, double strike ability in any conditions makes it so(HT tech). IMO it should be air the king in optimum conditions(double strikes, single, in less than), but I am forever the outcast, nevermind reality. At this point, the turn of 40 to 41, my focus is America. Up to now its been IT and PT, but now we'll need some specialized reaction forces with flexibility for either east or west. Time to start the builds and redirect the tech investments into those forces and when the time comes for their deployment, they will need "eyes". Japanese navy sails close - Singapore is being reinforced. USA & USSR mobilization continues. The Japanese continue to pound the outmatched Chinese. In the med, the Brits attack Syria and I'm forced to send a tank destined for egypt to bail them out. Will be interesting if syria will allow me to flank his egyptians. david12345 Posted July 4, 2012 Author Share Posted July 4, 2012 Things are getting tougher everywhere. I'm effectivly stopped in Eqypt, though my tank in syria manages to kill a second corps. Germans and Brits trade carriers in the Atlantic, and my survivors run. Bad timing here, what should have been my escorting u-boats were in port upgrading. Yugoslavia surrenders. In China, I get a corps outside Yumen, but losing that army hurt. The Chinese also making a push in the south east, I send a SF to make sure they don't get too far. My Japanese take Yumen and the fort next to Chenchow, but things there are way behind schedule. With the USA's high readiness, I may face them with China still a powerful enemy, something I did not think would happen. Not much better in the Med. My African ports are down to 1 supply, and my units are unable to attack and trapped. Getting Syria is nice, but supply there not good either. Russia looms, and I'm not ready... Starting my buildup on russian border, the invasion is put off because of the mess in the Med. I do manage to kill the Brit tank in egypt with air, but it's starting to look like Egypt could well survive. Units from Lybia attack the fort with little success, it's either that or sit and rot. The Atlantic is a kill zone, I lost another sub for nothing. In China, I get a corps and take the first mine outside Urumchi, but he has several units still defending with HQ support. Not sure if it is a trap or mistake, but the Chinese leave a fort unoccupied, I take it, but the SF I use could well die as a result. I begin the unenviable task of trying to butt my way through the defensive line guarding the capital. This will not be easy, Carverrt has a real nice row of forts protecting Chunking. david12345 Posted July 6, 2012 Author Share Posted July 6, 2012 What a difference a turn makes. The USSR joins the allies, that is a big jump from 79% in one turn. I have no choice but to invade before I'm ready. Not a very strong first turn. I do drop a paratrooper all the way to Vorenesh (or however you spell it). Also drop one to take the oil refinery by Rostov. I guess that was a mistake, the Russians rebuild in the Urals, I had thought the mines were the only trigger for that. Live and learn. Fighting continues in Egypt. I have been forced to commit another HQ and air. If I can't finish this soon, it will really hurt me in Europe. I'm starting to wonder what the RN is up to, I expected them to join the fray by now... In China, Urumchi counter attacked on allied turn and is now damaged. I hit it with everything I have and manage to take the city. I had figured 2-3 more turns to do that. I knock out one fort in front of Chunking and move in a big 14 strength army. The Suez is recaptured, but my lines are weak all around. China is ready to fall. I’ll have to revise my strategy; what can I hold on to… some parts of Africa, Singapore (that would be a coup if I could manage it), and Russia – got to hold Moscow.
