Aquilas-ESP reacted to MikeyD in 2x2km map recomendation?
I've seen new scenario makers become discouraged because their first project was too ambitious (my go-to example is 'downtown Antwerp'). There's no need to make life so difficult! Unless your scenario involves main battle tanks exchanging fire across the length of a huge map there's no need to go gigantic.
After a certain size large maps become counterproductive. A 2km map with foot infantry either means a lot of walking or a lot of waiting.
New scenario designers tend to forget they need to create AI movement orders. A smaller map means you're better able to anticipate the opponent's movement and can create AI orders to counter him. A huge map has too many variables and its too easy to guess wrong. I've seen beautiful huge maps where the designer just gave up trying to create logical AI movement orders.

Aquilas-ESP reacted to MOS:96B2P in Buddy Aid
As a result of a thread over at The Few Good Men (FGM) gaming club I did some experiments with "Buddy Aid".  Below is some of the information that was learned and shared at The Few Good Men.
I did some experiments in CMBS v2.1 Engine 4 where I saved a game after taking casualties and then ceased fire and recorded the AAR results.
I then loaded the save, completed buddy aid, ceased fire again and recorded the AAR results.
    The score did not change.

3 WIA, (out of 10 total troops) then cease fire.
No buddy aid - 1 KIA, 2 WIA = OpFor Minor Victory 25 points.
With buddy aid - 0 KIA, 3 WIA = OpFor Minor Victory 25 points.

2 KIA, 3 WIA, (out of 17 total troops) then cease fire.
No buddy aid - 4 KIA, 1 WIA = OpFor Tactical Victory 45 points.
With buddy aid - 2 KIA, 3 WIA = OpFor Tactical Victory 45 points.

WIA (red base) can turn to KIA (brown base) from additional hits.
Buddy Aid is one on one however a team can treat multiple casualties in the same A/S concurrently.
A team administering Buddy Aid will recover ammo including ammo for weapons they do not have in the team.
Buddy aid on KIA (brown base) was about 15 - 35 seconds. On WIA (red base) about 1 minute – 2 minutes 30 seconds.
Casualties only disappear if they receive Buddy Aid. I tested 2 KIA & 2 WIA for 1½ hours game time. They never disappeared.
Experience of the teams administering buddy aid did not affect the length of buddy aid or the amount of equipment recovered.
Lightly wounded (yellow base) are not counted as casualties on the AAR screen.
To share ammo recovered in buddy aid the medic team must be part of the unit (“highlighted” unit) needing the ammo.
During testing on average about 2 grenades and 170 rounds of ammo were recovered per casualty. I know from playing the game other                                equipment (radios, binoculars, some weapons etc.) can also be recovered but I did not try for that in the experiments.
WIA (red base) incapacitated wounded are not counted in Parameter/Condition but are counted in Parameter/Casualties.
Buddy aid does not make a difference to the score in Quick Battles or in Scenarios.
Buddy aid does not make a difference to the score in a Campaign.
Buddy aid may only make a difference as a tie breaker in a CM tournament .
If I got anything wrong let me know but as best as I can tell that's the way it works. A little disappointed that Buddy Aid has no affect on the score but I will continue to order my teams to administer aid. Seems like the realistic, correct thing to do.

No problem my friend.  That is what this forum is for.  For every question you ask there are probably several forum lurkers interested in the same thing.  You're asking for them also.  Thank you.

They retrieve the gear off fallen comrades.  It is called buddy aid in the game.  If the down troop is dead it is only gear (ammo sometimes weapons, binoculars and radios).  If the down troop is wounded and he receives buddy aid he is less likely to become dead.
Below is a link for the topic of Buddy Aid.

When in doubt 'rez-explode' the game's BRZ file and rummage through the contents. 'Unit Portraits' is in shock force v200a.brz, in the 'nations folder,  with a single additional unit portrait in 'shock force v201.brz' Twenty nine items including the one in v201.

There's a list of all the SF2 portrait names in the ATTENTION readme. It also details which portraits SF2 is currently not utilizing.
Also, another good tip, if you are not sure what a file name is you can always down load a similar mod and check the bmp/wavs.
Mac users can't rez explode so they are out of luck when it comes to checking that way. I never brz any of my mods because of that.

Aquilas-ESP got a reaction from Erwin in Editor doubt: line vision forests
    Hello,
I have created a map in the editor and I would like to cover some areas with trees that impede the line of sight. I have found that the only difference between light and heavy forest is that vehicles can only enter the first, but both allow the line of sight. I have tried with the condensation of trees and the icon of a tree allows the vision and that of three I think allows less.
Could you explain to me how to make a forest impede the line of sight? Finally, do hedges allow the vision of vehicles but not that of infantry?
    Thank you

You're welcome. And, good for you! You are gonna have a blast with Fortress Italy. Whole different play style and atmosphere. I am sure all the Spanish speakers out there will be happy to have some more vids in their own language. Good luck with it.

If they breach their word, they must return the money. You can't charge 120 dollars to thousands of people, and then postpone the game.
Anyone with a little seriousness would have deigned at least to comment, because they have gone through the price of the game a lot.

Aquilas-ESP got a reaction from The_MonkeyKing in Firs buy question
Hello, I never buy in this page (only in Steam, Kinguin, HumbleBundlee). Now I want buy Combat Mission Shock Force 2, for the first buy in this page, Can I preorder download only?. This comes to mind, because in some pages I have seen that I have to buy at least one DVD or Manual on this page to download the games.
Another question is if at the start of the game, it ask for an access code, or if this is only for the multiplayer. Because if so, I could pass the game to other friends, even if they couldn't play multiplayer.
