I think Avdiivka itself was not very important to UKR.
I feel we got too fixated on Avdiivka. I believe the intent of the RU command was a significantly more ambitious, which explains the UKR command's unwillingness to commit large forces to the defense of Avdiivka. RU generals are fond of ambitious encircling operations. What if RU intended to attract UKR reserves to the defense of Avdiivka, smash them there, rupture UKR defenses, and simultaneously attack from Avdiivka, Zaporojye, and possibly Bakmut (according to UKR reports, RU has begun to push there as well) to encircle and destroy a significant portion of AFU formations?
    It explains:
Why RU kept significant mech force not far from Avdiivka Why UKR command committed so few lightly armed forces to the defense Why Abrams and Bradly equipped units did not counter-attacked RU units when they started to advance toward Lastochkino Why Patriot arrived only now Recent UKR reports from Rabotny that RU are preparing something big Adviivka's battle was most likely a prelude. The main battle started just now.

It's because russia is losing and the war may not be over before the end of 2024. It won't look good to release a game about the war in Ukraine as the war will still be going on....
I  am pro-Ukrainian just calling it like I see it.

I hope I am wrong and this is all over soon and in a positive way for the Ukrainian people

I have been a player of the CM series since the Beyond Overload days and have bought just about every title since.  I have enjoyed the modern games and I am very disappointed to hear the the expansion for BS has been shelved.  Why?  As I understand it, Battlefront did not want people thinking they were making a profit off of a war even though the game was designed before the war in Ukraine.  I understand this point, but I don't remember any complaints about the release of Shock Force when there was an active war in Iraq and Afghanistan.  The game wasn't pulled when a real war in Syria happened.  What makes the Ukraine situation so special?  Is the issue simply that the setting is in Ukraine?  Could BS and the expansion simply be retitled Combat Mission Europe or something with a new setting but using the exact same maps and equipment?

Are you sure that it would penetrate the front of a T-64B? The T-72A has a LOS thicknes of 550mm, the B even more. And that is of compositarmor, not RHA. Not that the old Soviet composite was very good, like later western compositearmor, but anyway.

    Some combat videos
UKR Marder of 82nd air-assault brigade got two ATGMs in front projection near Verbove. First hit didn't cause an ignition, about second one hard to say, we can see white smoke, but video ends.
Russian counter-attack attempt somewhere near Novoprokopivka. Likely close hits of IFV gun and several FPV strikes forced them to retreat along the trench
Next two videos are enough brutal
Russians got hell in the trench
Despite popularity of FPV, 30th brigade on northern flank of Bakhmut successfully uses grenade dropping too
On what I want to pay attantion - it's enough high level of survavibility of infantry under fire. Looks like body armor gives enough chances to survive and get mostly light injuries from close grenades or HEAT charges explosions. To take out a soldier you should to hit it with light explosive directly or at least in a step near his legs

But with 13-46 inch plate, you are only talking about the frontarmour. Artillery don´t care if the wehicle is turned in the direction they are firing from. Most arty kills I´v seen from the war, is from the side. And mostly on BMP/BTR´s. But according to Ukraine soldiers, they lose most of their tanks to artillery to (Now, maybe mines to). And there are lots of weakspots on tanks in the side/back. Particularly on the T-xx tanks.
Take this photo of the side front of an T-72B3  Very thin side armor there. And you se the composite front plate armor inside, and that we know the thicknes of.

80 mm on the upper part of the sidearmour of the T-72 hull side. But only 20 mm on the lower part of the side. Thats not even an inch! And thats where the carousel mag is!

The war in Ukraina has showed a suprisingly high effectivnes, of artillery against Tanks, IFV´s, and other armored vehicles. Ukraine said erlier, that most of their tanklosses came from artillery. And Russia is very thin on guided shells. And we have seen 100´s of twitter/youtubeclips of artilleryshells detonating close <50ft to AFV´s destroying them. And now even several upparmored M2A2 ODS-SA Bradlys, and a Leo 2A6. Getting missionkilled by artillery, possibly a few total kills. And more to come with probably M-kills/K-kills by arty, of upparmored CV 90´s, Marders, Challenger 2´s, Strv 122´s. And later on of M1A1´s.
I know BF cant change this in existing games, since every campaign. And every scenario have to be redone, to reflect this.
What your thoughts? I didn´t want to spam the bigone with this, but a separate thread.

Now when its clear that the Ukrainian counteroffensive is underway. Even if Oryx has not uppdated. This was Top Secret, and nobody new about this! The Swedish millitary said on thursday (All media in Sweden Cited), that Sweden has educated 4 mechanized Companies in Sweden on CV 9040C (The best Swedish version with heavy MEXAS addon armour, and all of them are going to Ukraine) only used in Afghanistan earlier!. Around 400 Ukrainian soldiers, and that they now are in a secret place in Ukraine, to participate in the counteroffensive.
The 40 mm on the CV 9040C has the 3P round, which is a gamechanger in some aspects.

Probably training on Strv 122 (Leopard 2A5+) took place in the same time. The millitary say, they educated Ukrainians on every vehicle that was sent to Ukraine.
So possible even Archer 155 mm Artillery with its 37,3 mile range (60km) and very fast shoot and scoot, and up to 6 rounds MRSI. Sweden sent 8 Archers to Ukraine, and several to UK. To let UK send more AS 90 Braveharts to Ukraine. Uk wanted some Archers, so they was not to thin on artillery!
