  1. Few years ago I read an article or maybe watched an youtube video about bmp-3 training in Russia. It was said that conscripts had not been taught to use a relatively new bmp-3 gunner sight, they had been using only old back up sight (bmp-2 sight?) because "it is simple to use". I guess officers were afraid that unreliable conscripts will break something valuable.
  2. 100% true, man. 100%! Sharmans used to crush Panthers by its tracks producing terrible shreiking sound that stunned all the germans in a 5km radius! Sherman crew did not even bother wasting rounds. To reinforce its crushing capabilities evently Sherman tank recieved Duckbill Tracks that inspired horror into the souls of King Tiger commanders. h
  3. +1 And make US tanks able to transform into robots. And ability for a tank platoon to form mega-robot!
  4. Love, love, love... Where are the tanks?
  5. I agree. Would result not only in large amount of equipment. It would be also very debatebale topic: sometimes it is difficult to say what equipment would be in service by 2017 and what equipment wouldn't. That's why I'd like to see "in service" only equipment. Equipment, which is already it use. I was talking about person who exactly said "laughable", not you. According to wiki 28.02.2015 ak-12 was selected for "Ratnik" system. However it is said that A-545 would also be produced.
  6. The question was not about how widely ak-12 or rpg-30 or another modern hardware will be spread by 2017. It was about whether it will be in service by 2017 or not. Tank "Oplot" will not be widely spread for sure by 2017, but it is represented in the game. Rpg-30 is already in service. Ak-12 is already chosen as rifle for "Ratnik". "Serial deliveries and batch production of Ratnik began in the first half of 2015" (according to wiki). Someone here thinks that it is laughable to suggest that ak-12 will be availble for troops by the 2017. It seems that person has been banned by wiki. IMO it will be much intresting to have the real armament that is present today. Without fictional LWR on abrams and breadly, t-90am, xm25, oplot mbt and other uncommon stuff. And, yes, present LWR and not present rpg-30 are "game changing". Abrams is much easier to destroy without LWR systems. Currently kornet atgm is almost useless against it: tank pops smoke and reverses.
  7. Any proof links about it? I doubt it. Does your cell phone stop working during heavy rain or in the fog? Upd: Browsed the web. Yes, heavy rain and fog do change max distance a radar can see. Depends on the wave length. Khriz has mm band wave. So we need to know exact wave length to say. For heavy fog (visible distance 50 m) radar distance will be 30-60% of its max distance. (30% for 3.2mm wave length, and 57% for 8.2mm). In case of not so dense fog (200m visual distance) we will get 40%-70%. I think khriz wave length is classified, so devs can choose any mm length they want. It seems they chose 1mm length. So it is about 20%-30% of max distance in the heavy fog. However it does not explain night case.
  8. Pesonally, I'd like to know whether m1a2 has laser warning receiver as stantard equipment IRL. Wiki says nothing about such systems on that tank. LWR is part of the shtora system which is standard T90 equipment, and is noted on the wiki. I agree with Hydaspes, russian small arms are 20 years old in this game. AK-74M? What about new AK-12, if we are really talking about future fictional war, or new rpg-30 with an ability to bypass aps systems? Yes, they are not fielded currently in the russian army, however m25 and М829A4 are not fielded too (xm25 and М829Е4 in reality). By the way, rpg-30 is already being produced for the regular army (according to wiki). Personally, i do not care much about it. It is a game and will never be able to simulate a real modern combat.
  9. Was your Khiz able to spot m1a2 at the distance more than 3km during night at your test? I have made a narrow flat map about 500mx4000m and set blue ai to attack another end of the map. During day m1 and khriz have been able to see each other at 4km. At night m1 have been spoted only at 3km range by my khriz. I have browsed the forum and have found out that this problem was already discussed long ago. I hope it will be fixed in 1.04
  10. Hi, folks. Is there any realistic reason why khrizantema's radar emission has difficulties penetrating night air? Khiz spots m1a2 at the distance more than 4km at day, clear weather, flat surface; 3km at night, clear weather... And 800m at night, heavy fog.
