  1. no german rifle round or mg-42 is going to penetrate the M8 greyhound front and side armor, dunno about rear
  2. I notice in some games sound contacts are detected and some battles they are not. What detects them? A tank has a running engine so I am think it is friendly troops nearby or a vehicle possibly?
  3. I viewed most of the ww2 manuals for camouflage and it told everyone to STAY IN THE TREES AND OUT OF OPEN GROUND. Open ground is the worst place you can be in.
  4. I don't know why more people don't. If these games get updated, I'm all for having the members in the squads show, fog fix, maybe make the people look more realistic, and some other minor fixes to touch these series up since the games are 9/10 already. Overlord could use an upgrade to make it equal to Afrika Korps, missing some quick battle preferences etc.
  5. The one on the bottom is a AT grenade bundle (Geballte Ladung) The ones on the top look like regular stick hand grenades. I can't figure what the one in the middle is. year is 1941.
  6. My suggestion to you Ian, would be if you can't contribute to the thread don't post in it.. The sun top is a moot point no sense in keeping up on the rambling about it eh?
  7. That was kind of a moronic post womble, at most got any tips for open top vehicles or any offerings to the thread?
  8. who knows they may have a modifier in game for it..
  9. The crew was a "Crack" team. If it wasn't I don't a green team would have even hit it from that distance.
  10. ^ It's hard to imagine stuff that works....... The rest is just modifiers.
  11. Here are some tips for the M8 HMC, M20, M8 GREYHOUND, Priest, Half-Tracks, MG Jeeps I thought it was a terrible idea but many US vehicles are opened topped letting in enemy fire, grenades, mortars, water etc.. Here are some tips to make them come to life and work better for you. -Park under trees in the shadows, this will minimize enemy seeing you at a distance and will increase your fire hits. If an enemy can't see you in the dark shadows his shots will be poor. -Don't park or travel below an enemy that is above you.. -Stay away from fields with many shrubs, for the enemy that you can't see will toss grenades inside. -Half-Tracks need to park far away from buildings an mg-42 will go them with ease. (only when close) You can park right up behind an allied tank to unload near to a building though. -If you are defending an area with an m20 or greyhound go hull down behind a stone wall, if there is none hull down behind anything, a bush is better than nothing. -Use them to work together with troops. They will expose enemy for you and you will to them. -Another good thing about trees is some protection from mortars and return fire. -Don't park in a way where the vehicle looks like it's tipping to one side and exposes the entire inside to the enemy, try to find even ground. -Yet another thing about trees is harder for aircraft to spot you. -Don't park close to buildings with open topped vehicles where they can throw grenades or shoot down inside. Stay on the outskirts of towns or in hedges! -Align your armor so the front is facing the enemy. -Use HE for indirect fire, enemy troops will start to run away, this is when you should pop out of tank hatch to use the coaxial guns. Works very good. -Clear MG-42s in buildings. Most of these vehicles have a .50 caliber mg, that is a big round that will go through any houses or building with ease. It is nothing an mg-42 team is willing to stick around for. But yet again make sure you are far enough way from buildings, .50 cal and your cannon has a longer range than the mg-42. -Force an enemy to blow it's cover. Pop out of the turret and directly back in once in awhile to let enemy troops shoot and you, if they are dumb enough to try. you have the location now, and can use HE or canister indirect fire on the area. -In a rainy missions unsure of game modifier but tree cover may help aiming the gun and stop water on crew for that better shot. -Unsure of dirt road dust causes poor aim for open top stuff as well.
  12. right click your desktop then screen resolution. Is it set to max? I have 1600x900 and I can only get 1152x964 at 75hz. But when playing it all looks normal.
  13. Thought this was funny. The thing was moving too fast for the BT-7 to target. The BT-7 being a small tank itself, acts as a giant to the cv-35. and still looks like a midget compared to the BT-7
  14. Steer clear of "greenasjades" for the site it's no good and a mess. I had a neat scenario that I submitted based on the movie Fury, but then I was no longer able to submit. As if some moronic limit kicked in... Good Luck.
  15. Changing compatibility mode for the game gives you new graphics options as well I have found out. As far as this scaling talk you are talking about I have never heard about any "scaling" control in any games. Don't you use nvidia control panel??? Play with the settings in the panel, turn off anti-aliasing and vsync etc.
  16. When you select a hide selection on a tank, you can either do it with the tank unbuttoned or buttoned. I assume they are hiding inside their tank with vision slits and hatches closed. Is this true? And.. A. What is the difference between the two modes?
  17. There was nothing wrong with the sherman M4 and M4a1, for the African campaign. It could tank on all tanks it met head on, and I say head on because when the Africa campaign was finished it just got harder and hard to go "head-on" with Axis armor. The shermans and lee tanks that were used in Africa could go up against any German/Italian armor pziis, pziiis, marders etc except the tiger. Sure the Afrika Korps mark IV would be it's biggest match, but it had a weak short barrel 75 gun, so still it was a good match up be it sherman or lees. Now on to Italy, where the Germans released the high velocity 75 gun for the mark iv, that's when the sherman started to see it's head on tank vs tank battle problems. The sherman had to change it's attack tactics, or be slaughtered. Did the tactics change too late for the shermans? Did they really think they could continue to go head on with German armor? The thought is terrible but by my opinion would be yes, they did! The mark iv having the longer 75 would already put it a couple steps ahead of the sherman. Here we go with the start of the Italy and normandy campaign where the deadly panther versions start to come out with an even stronger 75mm gun AND STILL NOT A DECENT SHERMAN UPGRADE. The m4 still has a 75 gun and the sherman variants took many losses. At this point in time is where I think the sherman went to a troop support tank rather an armor vs armor tank. The TDs would concentrate on that job from now on. It's not until toward the end where we upgraded the sherman guns to 76mm and added more armor but by then it was too late. The US did just not know what they were up against in Italy and really had no clue at all of German armor, except for the stuff seen in Africa campaign and probably by stories of vets from that campaign, passed down to other rookies. The US training films at the time showed Panzer II's and Mark IV's (Anything a sherman could slice through) never panthers or tigers. The shermans learned the hard way indeed, that they needed to use swarm, ambushes and above all SPEED tactics to take on the big cats of Normandy. Gyros came out and were used for this new line of tank tactics. Did it work? My opinion would be yes partly. The shermans could literally race past Axis tanks for flank shots. A German tank on the move could not hit targets like a sherman could, it had to be pretty much still. The weight and slow turret traverse made getting away from racing shermans difficult. Did the mass amount of shermans produced really take a toll on German armor or was it more Axis abandoning their tanks, US AT guns, bazookas, allied fighters/bombers? Both the Sherman and half-track failed in it's wartime upgrade process. The Germans did a better job of trial and error from the African campaign and what it learned fighting the Soviets was a big help to tank designers. Transferring what worked and what didn't into a newer tank when the Allies just did error and error for both vehicles. What worked in Africa will work in Normandy seemed to be the way. Why were the shermans successful then? I think it was ALL IN SPEED. If the Axis armor would have matched the speed of the sherman with their bigger tanks. There would be a major problem. Bu tspeed alone would not do it either as they did not have the numbers to match racing shermans. The speed factor could be seen showing itself advancing and developing through the war by the US hellcat tank with a top speed of almost 60mph!
  18. What do you mean? The screen is from 1.12 which is the latest... Ok there was none made that included ground dryness/dampness thanks.
  19. After updating to 1.12 latest, I noticed ground conditions is missing from quick battle setup but is available in the scenario maker. How can I enable it in quick mission? Looks like it could use a fixing up. Look jumbled to me. I didn't post this in tech support for Afrika Korps because, well this isn't Afrika Korps and that seems to be the only section for support. On anther note I could have sworn ground conditions and some other options (like wind) were in there before the 1.12 update maybe not?
  20. No it wasn't this was actual battle footage in the hedgerows. Unless the AT kind has a time fuse after some length of flight time as well.
  21. The German sure had many different kinds as well wow http://www.warrelics.eu/forum/attachments/ordnance-ammo/28563d1235458995-german-rifle-grenades-launchers-gewgr_alle.jpg Too bad there is no chart telling which each was for.. Armor piercing or HE probably also flare and smoke rounds. Maybe they were rare to use in the German army? I also said in my original post the US air burst kind was for above ground BUT and with a big BUT, I bet it could be shot skipped along ground, or through a window and detonated via it's time fuse... The mk2 is certainly heavy enough to shatter am old european style house window. I have also seen old videos of US troops shooting the AT type mortar style for un-known reasons..
